Troubleshooting
Problem
While attempting to install Rational Rose RealTime, internal errors occur, similar to the following: An internal error (80004002) occurred in (unknown component) while calling C:\Program Files\Rational\common\ltlst11n.ocx|DllRegisterServer: No such interface supported An internal error (80004002) occurred in (unknown component) while calling C:\Program Files\Rational\common\ltscr11n.ocx|DllRegisterServer: No such interface supported An internal error (80004002) occurred in (unknown component) while calling C:\Program Files\Rational\common\lttmb11n.ocx|DllRegisterServer: No such interface supported An internal error (80004002) occurred in (unknown component) while calling C:\Program Files\Rational\common\ltvec11n.ocx|DllRegisterServer: No such interface supported Can't find entrypoint DllRegisterServer in C:\WINNT\System32\comcat.dll. In the RSSetup.log located in C:\Program Files\Rational\RSSetup, the following message is also reported: "Not updating file "C:\WINNT\System32\comcat.dll" because its version (5.0.1600.1) is newer than the version to be installed (4.71.1460.1)."
Resolving The Problem
To resolve this problem, copy the comcat.dll version 4.71 into the System32 folder and register it. This can be accomplished by doing the following:
1. Rename the C:\WINNT\System32\comcat.dll file to comcat.dll.v5.
2. Save the comcat.dll version 4.71.1460.1 (which is provided with this Solution) in the C:\WINNT\System32 directory.
3. Manually register the comcat.dll version 4.71.1460.1 using the command:
regsvr32 C:\WINNT\System32\comcat.dll
4. Do a clean installation of Rose RealTime. For complete instructions detailing how to do a clean install of Rose RealTime, please refer to Solution # 14753 - WINDOWS: Complete Instructions for Uninstalling Rose RealTime and Cleaning-up Registry Files.
Note: Once Rose RealTime is installed successfully, return to using the comcat.dll version 5.0.1600.1, in order to avoid problems with currently installed programs.
