InfoSphere Information Server Packs for SAP and BW Applications: How to configure an SAP Message Server service for Load Balancing

Question & Answer

Question

How should I configure an SAP Message Server service to use Load Balancing with the InfoSphere Information Server Packs for SAP and BW Applications?

Answer

Configuring an SAP Message Server service for Load Balancing

To configure the Packs for SAP and BW applications to connect to a load balanced SAP server the SAP Message Server service must be added to your services file on your InfoSphere DataStage system (on both Server and Client tiers)

The location of the services file depends on the platform:
Windows: %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\services
Unix: /etc/services

Add the following entry to the services file:
sapmsSID 36NN/tcp

Where:
SID: SAP System ID where the message server resides
NN: the instance number of the SAP system

For example:
    sapmsU47 3600/tcp
    sapmsNW4 3640/tcp
