Troubleshooting
Problem
Try increase SNMP Timeout value to resolve SNMP walk time out issue in RTM
Symptom
RTM reports SNMP device timeout in cacti.log:
CMDPHP: Poller[0] WARNING: SNMP Walk Time out for Host: 172.30.34.8, and OID:'.1.3.6.4.2022.14.16.1.1.2".
RTM isn't able to graph the affected SNMP device properly.
Resolving The Problem
In RTM WEBGUI, go to
Console (Tab) ->Management(left panel) ->Devices
Click on the SNMP device, there is a setting called SNMP Timeout under “SNMP Options”, the default settings is 500 milliseconds, which is half second.
Usually half second is long enough to get response back from SNMP enabled devices. However when a polled SNMP device returns a lot data to RTM, then this value might be too small for data polling to finish; in our case, increase to 2000 milliseconds, and then this error disappears in cacti.log, and data is collected fine from the SNMP device.
