SVC 2145-8A4 node hardware may abruptly shut down without saving hardened cluster data, in datacenter over-temperature scenarios.
SVC 2145-8A4 node hardware running V220.127.116.11 - V18.104.22.168 uses an incorrect hard shutdown temperature setting for the node hardware. The consequence of this incorrect setting is that, in the case of an over-temperature scenario, these nodes will shutdown before the SVC software shutdown threshold is reached, preventing the nodes from saving their hardened data to disk.
WARNING: This issue may result in cache data loss, extended host I/O access loss and the requirement for IBM Support to recover the cluster.
This issue is resolved by APAR IC68234 in the SVC V22.214.171.124 release. All customers with 2145-8A4 node hardware currently running V126.96.36.199 - V188.8.131.52 are strongly advised to upgrade to V184.108.40.206 or later to address this problem.
