Improved UI design for Network, Browser Violation, and Mobile Expense Management reports

MaaS360 offers improved UI experience for Network, Browser Restrictions, and Mobile Expense Management reports. The functions of these reports remain the same as in old UI and only the UI design elements are changed to provide better user experience with reporting capabilities. To get access to the new UI reporting capability, contact IBM MaaS360 Customer Support team. Once the feature is enabled, customers can perform subscription and UI settings and view these reports in the MaaS360 portal.

Subscription and UI reporting settings

For each of the Network, Browser Violations, and Mobile Expense Management (Mobile Data Usage Overview and Data Usage Analysis) reports, enable the subscription and UI settings in the respective sections from MaaS360 portal > Setup > Settings > Administrator Settings > Analytics. Alternatively, you can also access the Analytics section under Administrator Settings by using the Subscription settings option in the respective reports dashboard page. On successful configuration of these settings, the reports for Network, Browser Violations, and Expense Management reports are viewable accordingly in the MaaS360 portal.

  • Define Subscription Settings for Reports: Enable this setting to define the following subscription settings for the reports.
  1. Format for graphs: Set the graph format as either PDF or PPT to receive the chart data graphs.
  2. Email recipients: Provide a list of comma-separated email addresses that receive the reports.
  3. Delivery frequency: Choose how often (daily, weekly, monthly) and the day that recipients receive the report email message.
  • Define UI Settings: Enable this setting to set the display and filter options for the chart data and table data on future logins. Configure the following UI settings.
  1. Remember display options for charts on future logins: If this setting is enabled, the chart display option for the report is saved for future logins. The available display options for chart data are Bar Chart, Pie Chart, Line Chart, or Area Chart.
  2. Remember filters for charts on future logins: If this setting is enabled, the filters that are applied to the columns in the table data are saved for future logins.

Each of these reports can be expanded to view detailed reporting that consists of chart data and table data. Click table table icon icon to view detailed reports. The chart data displays reporting data in the form of graph such as Bar chart, Pie chart, Line chart, and Area chart.

The table data provides device and network details such as the device name, user name, platform, home carrier, current carrier, and so on. These details are displayed as column headers in the table data along with an option to apply filters to these columns. The table data and the chart data is displayed based on applied filters.

Network reports

The Network reports provide details on mobile network for devices that are enrolled in the MaaS360 account. The Network reports are accessible from the MaaS360 portal > Reports > Network under the Mobile Devices section. The Network reports offer the following overview reports in Network.

  • Current Carrier: Shows data on the network carrier that is used on mobile devices that are enrolled in the MaaS360 account.
  • Home Carrier: Defines the name of network carrier for all devices that are enrolled in the MaaS360 account.
  • Current Country: The number of devices that operate in the current country mobile network is shown in the report.
  • Roaming Status: If any devices that are enrolled in the MaaS360 account is using the network on roaming, then this report shows the count of devices on roaming status.

Browser Violations

Based on the Browser URL filtering that is defined in the MaaS360 Workplace Persona policy, the Browser Violations report is generated. This report provides details on user devices that attempted to access these blocked URLs and violated the security browser restrictions policy. The Browser Violations reports are accessible from the MaaS360 portal > Reports > Browser Violations under the Mobile Security section. The  following Browser Violations overview reports is displayed.

  • Blocked by Category: This report shows reports of Web URLs that are blocked under a category but are tried to be accessed by any of the devices that are enrolled in the MaaS360 account. These categories are defined under the Workplace Persona policy in the browser restrictions section under Configure Web URL restrictions.
  • Blocked by Domain: This report shows reports of Web URLs that are blocklisted based on domain but are tried to be accessed by any of the devices that are enrolled in the MaaS360 account. These blocklisted domains are defined under the Workplace Persona policy in the browser restrictions section under Configure blocklisted URLs.
  • Blocked by Device: This report shows the devices that tried to access any of these blocked URLs.

For example, if Facebook URL is added in the social network category (to restrict user device access to Facebook) and if user device tries to access Facebook page, then the Browser Violation reports shows this data under Blocked by Category report.

Mobile Expense Management

Based on the mobile expense management services, the mobile data usage and reports of real-time alerting on thresholds that are exceeded is shown in these reports. The following two types of Mobile expense management is displayed.

  1. Mobile Data Usage Overview
  2. Mobile Data Usage Analysis

These reports are accessible from the MaaS360 portal > Reports > Mobile Expense Management section. To view these reports, the Mobile Expense Management service must be enabled and an active mobile expense management plan must be there under Expense > Manage Plans that are assigned to the devices.

Mobile Data Usage Overview

Based on the mobile data usage during the customer billing period for a month, the following reports are displayed.

  1. In-Network: This report shows the mobile data usage in the current network that is assigned to the devices in the MaaS360 customer account. If more than one data plan exists, then the report shows in-network usage overview for all the data plans that exists in the customer account.
  2. Total In-Network: This report shows the overall mobile data usage in the current network for all the data plans that are assigned to the devices in the MaaS360 customer account.
  3. Roaming: This report shows the mobile data usage outside the current network when the devices in the MaaS360 customer account are in roaming data coverage. If more than one data plan exists, then the report shows roaming usage overview for all the data plans that are assigned to the devices in the customer account. 
  4. Total Roaming: This report shows the overall mobile data usage outside the current network when in roaming. The report displays the total roaming for all the data plans that are assigned to the devices in the MaaS360 customer account.

Mobile Data Usage Analysis

Based on the mobile data usage, analysis is made and the following mobile data usage analysis reports are displayed.

  1. Current Network: This report shows the mobile data usage (in GB) for the current network in the MaaS360 customer account. If more than one data plan exists, then the report shows current network usage analysis report for all the data plans that exists in the customer account.
  2. Current Country: This report shows the overall mobile data usage (in GB) in the current country for all the data plans that are assigned to the devices in the MaaS360 customer account.
  3. Daily Usage: This report shows the daily mobile data usage (in GB) for all the devices in network for a  MaaS360 customer account. If more than one data plan exists, then the report shows daily usage for all the data plans that are assigned to the devices in the customer account.

Expanded view of Reports

The Network, Browser Violations, and Mobile Expense Management reports includes an expanded view that consists of chart data and table data for the mobile devices that are managed by MaaS360 customer account. Click table table icon icon to see expended view of reports.

The chart data defines these reports in the form of graph. The following types of chart data are available:

  • Bar chart
  • Pie chart
  • Line chart
  • Area chart

The table data provides device and network details such as the device name, user name, platform, home carrier, current carrier, and so on. These details are displayed as column headers in the table data along with an option to apply filters to these columns. The table data and the chart data is displayed based on applied filters.

In these reports, an option to individually export chart data and table data is available. For a report, the chart data is exported as a .png file and the table data is exported as .csv file.
