Problem
I am trying to import a text file into IBM SPSS Statistics 19.0 via syntax. The file contains Czech characters, a mixture if delimiters and quotes as qualifiers. In the menu Edit - Options - General - Character Encoding for Data and Syntax has been set to Unicode. After running the syntax I get this error message in the output window and some of the variable content is lost or shifted to the left, For example the content of the 4. variable is in the 3. variable after import and so on. Error # 1400. Command name: EXECUTE >Input error when reading a case. >Execution of this command stops. What is going wrong here?
