Importing a schema results in "Can't write to the registry key" error

Troubleshooting


Problem

Attempts to import a schema in IBM Rational ClearQuest on Microsoft Windows results in the error "Can't write to the registry key".

Symptom

During importing a schema with .ini file, the following error occurred and import failed.

Can't write to the registry key "Software\Rational Software\ClearQuest\7.0.0\Core\Databases" under either HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE or HKEY_CURRENT_USER.

Error: Attempt to call function "RegCreateKeyEx" on registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Rational Software\ClearQuest\7.0.0\Core\Databases" failed. System error: Access denied.
