Import of Activation Kits on Installation Manager result in crash with "java.io.IOException: Cannot run a program... " error

Problem

Attempts to import an activation kit on the IBM Installation Manager results in the error "java.io.IOException : Cannot run a program " C:\Program Files\IBM\Installation Manager\eclipse\IBMIM.exe":CreateProcess error=740, The requested operation requires elevation".

Symptom

You receive the following error:

Cause

This error message occurs due to the corruption of the installed copy of the IBM Installation Manager on the system.

Diagnosing The Problem

Verify that you have Administrative Privileges for the User Account where importing the Activation Kits.

Also confirm that IBMIM.exe is present in the location <Install_Directory>\IBM\Installation Manager\eclipse\IBMIM.exe

Resolving The Problem

In order to resolve the reported problem, apply one of the methods below:

Method 1:

Launch Installation Manager with Administrative Privileges and attempt to import the Activation Kits

Method 2:

  1. Download the latest version of Installation Manager from IBM Passport Advantage website

  2. Apply the following steps to Uninstall Installation Manager

  3. Install the latest version of Installation Manager and Import the Activation Kits
