IMM2 Remote Control may not run properly on Java 7

Troubleshooting

Problem

Java exceptions can be encountered when trying to launch the Integrated Management Module II (IMM2) Remote Control Java application when using Java version 1.7.0.51 or later and Java Deployment Rule Sets. If the remote control application is not enabledby the Java Deployment Rule Set, the resulting exception(s) may not clearly describe the issue. Example exceptions: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.avocent.ibmc.kvm.Main java.security.cert.CertificateParsingException: java.io.IOException: No data available in passed DER encoded value.

Symptom

If the remote control application is not enabled by the Java Deployment Rule Set, the resulting exception(s) may not clearly describe the issue.

Example exceptions:

	java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.avocent.ibmc.kvm.Main java.security.cert.CertificateParsingException: java.io.IOException: No data available in passed DER encoded value.

Affected configurations

The system is configured with one or more of the following IBM Options:

Integrated Management Module II (IMM2)

This tip is not system specific.

This tip is not software specific.

The system has the symptom described above.

Workaround

The Java Deployment Rule Set can be updated with a rule that will allow the IMM2 Remote Control application or the Java Deployment Rule Set to be removed.

The desktop administrator that created the Java Deployment Rule Set should be consulted.
