Question & Answer
Question
What is the reason of constant CPU usage by the BigFix agent?
Answer
BigFix agent communicates with BigFix server on regular basis for performing operational status, current system properties, and so on.
This information is used to evaluate relevance of fixlet that is check if some fixlet is relevant for given endpoint.
In general, BigFix agent not consumes more than 1-2% of CPU. For details, check BigFix documentation.
BigFix agent invokes the following IBM License Metric Tool scanner processes:
1. The wscansw - software scan, which has CPU threshold to limit the consumption of the processor resources by the scanner, see here:
https://ibm.biz/BdsKyA
2. The wscanhw - capacity scan, which is short with low CPU usage footprint
