IBM Z LSPR ITRRs

General Page

IBM Z LSPR ITR Ratios for IBM processors relative to the IBM 2094-701 where each model is configured with multiple images based on an average LPAR profile of client systems. Information presented in this table is current as of April 2025.

Note: These tables are indexed with ‘IBM Z’ box identifiers, e.g., 3931-725, where ‘7’ denotes the full-speed water-cooled series and ‘25’ denotes the ‘alphanumeric decimal’ z/OS general purpose core quantity. The full-speed air-cooled identifiers are similar, e.g., 3932-Z05. These ‘7xx’ and ‘Zxx’ rows may be indexed for LinuxONE Emperor and Rockhopper boxes respectively where ‘xx’ is substituted with the ‘alphanumeric decimal’ quantity of LinuxONE cores; i.e., for core counts greater than 100, ‘Ax’ = ‘10x’, ‘Bx’ = ‘11x’, …, ‘Jx’ = ‘19x’, ‘Kx’ = ‘20x’, etc.

Note: italicized ‘Zxx’ rows where xx > 06 exist solely for LinuxONE and IFL-only IBM Z configurations.

Contact your IBM marketing representative to ensure that you are using the most current data. Proper use of this data requires an understanding of the LSPR measurement methodology.

* Low, Average, High workloads describe their Relative Nest Intensity (RNI) category - see workload description for more information.

** PCI stands for Processor Capacity Index. The PCI values were calculated by multiplying the LSPR Average column by a common scaling factor associated with a particular LSPR table. Note the values appearing here were generated using IBM zPCR so the full precision of each ITRR ratio is represented.

*** MSUs are used for software pricing only; they are not a capacity metric.

**** MSUps are used for software pricing in power save mode only; they are not a capacity metric.
