Abstract
IBM Worklight V5.0.6, V6.0, and V6.1 support the development of applications running on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with a list of known issues and solutions.
Content
Support is provided for the Worklight Studio development tools. The currently known issues are listed below where an 'X' represents an identified problem for a given release. For the latest information, search for "Android 4.4" on the IBM Support site.
Note: IBM releases fixes for identified Worklight and Cordova issues.
| Issue | Affects V5.0.6 | Affects V6.0 | Affects V6.1 | Problem source | Details |
| PI07217 | X | X | n/a | Worklight | JSONStore initialization fails and reports errors. The bundled SQLCipher third-party library calls an API that no longer exists in Android 4.4. For a workaround, see the IBM Worklight 6.1 JsonStore issue on Android 4.4 topic. |
| PI07246 | X | X | X | Investigating | Selecting images from the library or photo album fails. The current workaround is to select images using the Gallery application or to use destinationType.DATA_URL. For more information, see Pick image from Library or Photo album on android 4.4. |
| PI07242 | X | X | X | Google | The file input element in an HTML form does not open the file picker. A workaround is not available to get the file input element to work. The recommended approach is to use the FileTransfer plugin instead of an HTML form to upload a file. For more information, see File input element not opening file picker in Android 4.4. |
| PI07256 | X | X | X | Cordova | The InAppBrowser is not able to open local URI links. The InAppBrowser is separate from the regular webview, and is used only if the application includes window.open() or <a target="_blank">. For more information, see 2.x InAppBrowser localUrls fail on Android 4.4. |
| PI07257 | X | X | X | Investigating | An "Unexpected: Browser closed without a loadstop or loadstart error" alert is seen. The workaround is to dismiss the alert error dialog when it occurs and the application should continue functioning. For more information, see InAppBrowser crashes without loadstop or loaderror on Android 4.4. |
| Several performance issues | X | X | X | Google | The following performance problems have been reported with Android 4.4. |
