IMPORTANT -- PLEASE READ

The latest service level is known as the -> MDV 6.0.2.4 <- set of PTFs.

You can verify your current service level by calling program DSPMQVER. For this Java™ /JMS product, the service level information is displayed only when you use the QSHELL interface. For example:

MDV 6.0.2.4 is a Fix Pack, which comprises twelve PTFs
- ten for WebSphere MQ (BASE) for iSeries (5724H72)
- one for WebSphere MQ Java/JMS Client for iSeries (library QMQMJAVA) (5724L26)
- one for WebSphere MQ Java/JMS Samples for iSeries (5724L26)

PTF SI31813 has been designated as the 'marker' PTF for MDV 6.0.2.4. Ordering a Group PTF will deliver a complete set of (twelve) PTFs. You can apply the PTFs for each product in any order. But, before applying the PTFs for product 5724H72, you MUST fully quiesce all Queue Managers. Read the cover letter which accompanies the marker PTF, for a complete set of instructions.

The complete set of Group PTFs comprises:
* SF99303 - i5/OS V5R3 - WebSphere MQ for iSeries 6.0
* SF99304 - i5/OS V5R4 - WebSphere MQ for iSeries 6.0

1.0 ABOUT THIS RELEASE

1.1 Supported products

This Fix pack updates WebSphere MQ Java/JMS Client for iSeries (5724L26) to the same service level as WebSphere MQ (BASE) for iSeries (5724H72).

You are strongly recommended to keep both products at the same service level.


1.2 PTF and VRMF information

Products are identified by Version, Release, Modification and Fix numbers (VRMF).

These PTFs move the products to Fix pack level 6.0.2.4 (20th June 2008)

These PTFs take products 5724L26 at GA level 6.0.0.0 to Refresh pack level 6.0.1.0


- SI17460 new (no superseded PTFs) < Java/JMS Client
- SI17462 new (no superseded PTFs) < Java/JMS Samples (install option 1)

These PTFs are members of the following Group PTFs:
- SF99304 for i5/OS V5R4M0
- SF99303 for i5/OS V5R3M0


Ordering a Group PTF will download ALL the PTFs, for iSeries products 5724H72 and 5724L26, which comprise the latest Refresh Pack or Fix Pack.

1.4 HIPER APARs

There are no HIPER APARs shipped in this service update.


1.5 CUM packages

All PTFs in this service update are being withheld from all OS/400 CUM packages to prevent an unintended upgrade of WebSphere MQ on systems which have WebSphere Application Services installed.

There are no documentation updates for WebSphere MQ JAVA/JMS Client for iSeries.

Updates for product 5724H72 are detailed in the readme for the WebSphere MQ for iSeries product.

The latest cumulative package for i5/OS V5R4M0 is:
* Package external name: C8057540
* Package internal name: V5R4M0_GA_012

This CUM package does NOT contain any PTFs for WebSphere MQ.

Refer to Group PTF SF99539, for all HIPER fixes since the General Availability of V5R4M0
