Upgrading AppBuilder to V11.0.2.14
See below to upgrade Watson Explorer Foundational Components AppBuilder from V11.0.2.11 or earlier versions to V11.0.2.14.
- Application Builder V11.0.2.14 loads a new log4j configuration file
./wlp/usr/servers/AppBuilder/apps/AppBuilder/WEB-INF/classes/log4j2.properties. If you have customizedlog4j.properties, which is used in V11.0.2.11 or earlier versions, you need to migrate your modification to the new configuration file. See Log4j document about migration and configuration.
Upgrading AppBuilder and ZooKeeper to V11.0.2.14
These instructions apply when you upgrade from V11.0.2.5 or earlier versions of fix packs to V11.0.2.14. To upgrade AppBuilder to V11.0.2.14, you must first upgrade ZooKeeper to V11.0.2.14. V11.0.2.5 or earlier fix packs of ZooKeeper are not supported with AppBuilder V11.0.2.14.
Attention:
- ZooKeeper data from fix packs prior to V11.0.2.6 is not compatible with ZooKeeper V11.0.2.14. You must back up your ZooKeeper data in case you need to revert your installation to a previous version.
- AppBuilder V11.0.2.14 is not compatible with ZooKeeper prior to V11.0.2.6. Therefore, ZooKeeper must be updated to V11.0.2.14 prior to updating AppBuilder to V11.0.2.14, as written in the following task.
To upgrade to AppBuilder and ZooKeeper V11.0.2.14 from V11.0.2.5 or earlier:
- Back up the ZooKeeper configuration file and ZooKeeper data files for your AppBuilder configuration.
- Attention: Later, if you need to revert ZooKeeper to a previous version, the backup file is required.
- To view a list of files that need to be backed up, see Backing Up Application Builder System Files.
- Upgrade ZooKeeper to V11.0.2.14.
- Upgrade AppBuilder to V11.0.2.14.
Troubleshooting the ZooKeeper upgrade
If you encounter the following issues after upgrading ZooKeeper, try these workarounds:
- If AppBuilder doesn't start with the exception,
Address already in use, add the following configuration to$WEX_INSTALL/ZooKeeper/zookeeper/conf/zoo.cfg:
reconfigEnabled=false admin.enableServer=false admin.serverPort=8081
Install IBM Watson Explorer Annotation Administration Console 11.0.2 on RHEL 8
- To install IBM Watson Explorer Annotation Administration Console 11.0.2 on RHEL 8, follow the steps as describe in IBM Watson Explorer - How To install on Red Hat Enterprise Linux® 8 to install required libraries. You will need to add `-D\$IGNORE_UID_PASSWORD\$=true` option following the installation command if the user already exists prior to the installation.
