IBM TS7700 - R5.4 Performance

Abstract

These papers provide performance information for the IBM TS7770, TS777T, and TS7770C, which are the three current products in the TS7700 family of storage products. This paper is intended for use by IBM field personnel and their customers in designing virtual tape solutions for their applications.
This is an update to the previous TS7700 paper dated December 02, 2022 and reflects changes for release 5.4. This release only supports the VED model and requires 128GB of memory. Major new function and improvements delivered with release 5.4 include:
- Expansion of overall system capacity for all Flash TS7700 by supporting up to 9 XFC SSD cache expansion drawers (671.0TB net)
- Logical WORM retention with dual control
- Larger capacity logical volume size (65GB)
- Support for unjoins with objects
- LDAP enhancements
- Cloud resiliency improvements

The second document is the Transparent Cloud Tiering (TCT) performance data showing TS7700 performance for data offloaded from DS8000 using the TS7700 as a cloud target for objects.
