APAR: IV00342
-------------
Abstract: NCP_TRAPMUX FORWARDS TRAP PACKETS USING INCORRECT LENGTH
Description: When routing snmp traps through the ncp multiplexor, it appears that while
it will receive the trap ok it only will forward out 1024 bytes. If the trap is longer than
that, it just truncates the trap.

APAR: IV00602
-------------
Abstract: ITNMV3.8 DNS LOOKUP TOOL ERROR
Description: When an attempt is made to use the tool DNS Lookup in TopoViz (ITNM client in
TIP/Web GUI) or launching the DNS Lookup tool from ITNM GUI,the tool fails with the error.
This occurs even if the Domain name is changed from the default domain name.

-------------
Abstract: ITNM_STATUS NCO COMMAND TRIES TO SHOW THE STATUS OF ALL MANAGED
PROCESSES IN THE PA INSTEAD OF ONLY network manger ONES.
Description: Currently when running the itnm_status nco script we are getting
all the processes under the PA in the Omnibus instead of only the network manger related
ones ( PA, objserver, mttrapd ). Additionally, the status of the other PA processes is not always correct, which
may lead to some confusion about the true status of those processes.

APAR: IV01320
-------------
Abstract: MARKING DEVICES AS UNMANAGED WHEN THE BACKUP DOMAIN IS
ACTING PRIMARY FAILS TO SET NMOSMANAGEDSTATUS IN PROBE EVENTS
Description: Unmanage a device when in failover mode, with the backup domain
having become the acting primary domain, unmanage one of the
devices. Events from the network manger poller are correctly suppressed.
However, events from other sources, such Syslog or Mttrapd
(SNMP) probe fail to have the NmosManagedStatus field set
correctly to 1. This means they show up on Event Lists that
use NmosManagedStatus to filter out events from devices that
are known to be unmanaged.

APAR: IV01535
-------------
Abstract: POLLER CONTINUES TO POLL AN UNMANAGED CHASSIS
Description: Customer can unmanage a chassis from the gui (hopview) and can
still see polling traffic going to that entity. It appears to only be snmp poll traffic because
the tcpdump shows ICMP echos stop when unmanaged.

APAR: IV01549
-------------
Abstract: WHEN RIGHT CLICKING AND CHOSING TO "GRAPH SNMP MIB DATA" ERROR
RECEIVED "... HOST CANNOT BE FOUND IN THE NCIM DATABASE"
Description: 1) In hop view, I searched for the node in the domain. Select
this node.
2) When the view shows up, I right clicked and chose to "Graph
SNMP MIB Data". I go to the second tab, select any poll.
3) When I select "OK" to graph the data, I receive the message:
"The specified host cannot be found in the NCIM database. Please
choose another." This is caused when no interface record exists in scratchTopology with an m_IpAddress of the chassis.

Action:
The fix is to check for chassis objects that have no corresponding interface records in CreateScratchTopology and tag them.
A change to ModelNcimDb.cfg will create records in the ipEndPoint table for chassis that have been tagged.
If the NCHOME/etc/precision/ModelNcimDb.cfg has been customized before, then the existing file should be merged with
NCHOME/etc/precision/default/ModelNcimDb.cfg with the appropriate value set.

Abstract: CREATETRUNKCONNECTIONS STITCHER FIX.
Description: Customer is using network manger in a multiple virtual machines environment
connected on a switch port that is a trunking VLAN.
The stitcher is connecting each of the VLAN trunk end points
directly to the VMs. This meant that in cases where there were
many VMs connected to the same physical switch port a large
number of connections were being created ( numConnections =
numberofVLANs * numberOfVMs ).

Abstract: MULTI TABS PROBLEM ON ITNM3.8
Description: The below 2 issues always occur, while following the steps.
Issue-1:
1> Open "Discovery Configuration" , select DomainA and make some
change in the advanced. Do not save.
2> Open "Discovery Status", select DomainB. Do nothing.
3> Go back to "Discovery Configuration", still red words remind
you to save the change and the domain drop-down list is still
domainA.
4> Click the 'save' button. Saved, and the domain drop-down list
refreshed from DomainA to DomainB(sync with the drop-down list
of "Discovery Status"?), but the configurations in the webpage
are still of DomainA.
5> Click the 'save' button again, DomainB scope config over-writed by DomainA's

Issue-2:
1> Start the discovery for DomainA and DomainB
During the disco process, execute the following steps.
2> Open "Discovery Status" and select DomainA
3> Open "Discovery Config" and select DomainB
(select different Domain from step1).
=> verify the message "Downloading..."
4> Back to "Discovery Status", where the domain drop-down list
is still domainA, and Click "Stop" button.
=> then Discovery process for domainB stopped while we meant
to stop domainA's.

Abstract: INSTALLER NEEDS TO CHECK THAT THE USER INSTALLING ITNM HAD
ACCESS TO THE DIRECTORY ABOVE NETCOOL
Description: The user is installing network manger into a directory called netcool and doesn't have access to the directory above.
You are installing network manger as a not root user to the path: /ITNM_3.9/NoAccess/Netcool.The installed has a built in logic to not create a directory
called netcool under an existing Netcool directory. The installer will try and
create the TIPV2 in on the same level as the Netcool directory which the user installing network manger doesn't have access to.
This will cause the installer to fail and report a "Catastrophic failure encountered when creating installation plan."

Abstract: MIB BROWSER SNMP GET HANDLING INCORRECT FOR SCALAR VALUES
Description: 1.start SNMP MIB browser 2.select sysName of system mib Group from the tree 3. add index '0' to OID box
and then run SNMP GET request (such as 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.5.0 <= 0 was
added) 4. got result (without fail) and Name shows like 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.5.0.0
<= another 0 was added. 5. then for next request, he omit the index '0' such as
1.3.6.1.2.1.1.5 <= no '0' was added 6. got result (without fail) and Name shows sysName.0. He thinks that the result 4. and 6. are both wrong.
He assume with 4. Name shows 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.5.0. He assume with 6. the request gets failed..(SNMP GET-NEXT results same as his assumptions).

Abstract: NODE NAMES LONGER THAN 45 CHARACTERS GET TRUNCATED IN STRUCTURE BROWSER
Description: Node names which are longer than 45 characters get truncated and
at the end three dots (...) get appended. Customers would like
to be able to see the full name of the node.
If the TIPHOME/profiles/TIPProfile/etc/tnm/structurebrowser.properties file has been customized before,
then the existing file should be merged with TIPHOME/profiles/TIPProfile/etc/tnm/default/structurebrowser.properties with the appropriate value set.
Implemented a new configurable field structurebrowser.tree.node.name.maxLength=0 in structurebrowser.properties file.
To activate the function, add the following lines to the TIPHOME/profiles/TIPProfile/etc/tnm/default/structurebrowser.properties file.

# Length at which the navigation tree should truncate the node name
# Default is 0, meaning that no truncation will take place.

Abstract: SNMP STACK NEEDS REPORTABLEFLAG TO BE SET TO 1 IN SOME CASES
Description: The reportable Flag needs to be set to 1 in case of possible
packet that can not be decoded by target device.
For latest Huaway firmware the devices expects the flag to be
set to 1, but it is not during the SNMP GetNext statements
issued by network manger. We need a change to the network manger
SNMP stack such that it checks the PDU type that its is about to send and sets the reportableFlag accordingly.
This means that we'd be able to successfully discover the Huawei devices with this new firmware.
In theory this could impact discovery of other vendors equipment
via SNMPv3 but if they are following the standard then they
should be ignoring the reportable Flag so this is a relatively
low risk.

Description: When deleting directly from the domainMgr table or deleting all

that are performed can result in a transaction that is too large
for the database to handle or is simply too slow. The
domain_drop.pl script resolves this by incrementally deleting
batches of entities from the domain before deleting the domain
itself, but this mechanism does not currently work. The entities
are deleted only at the end of the script, when the domain
itself is removed from the domainMgr table. This defeats the
purpose of the script, and can fail on very large topologies.

Abstract: RCA FAILS TO SUPPRESS EVENTS FROM THE CHASSIS IP WHEN THE GRAPH
ENDS ON AN INTERFACE WITH THE SAME IP.
Description:
Isolated-Suppression fails to suppress events from the chassis
when the graph though the network terminates on an interface with the same
IP.In the user case, the interface that is used to identify the
chassis is contained within an VLAN. Although the VLAN is
subsequently contained within the chassis, it is also isolated
within the chassis because the chassis device is not an
IP-FORWARDING device. So although connectivity extends from the
interface to the VLAN, the path is not continuous up to the
chassis entity.
Therefore when RCA encounters events from the Chassis entity, it fails to
complete a continuous path from the polling station all
the way to the chassis and does not mark the event as a symptom.
Action:
1.Modify the Discovery stitcher code so that the interface
is upwardly connected to the VLAN.
2. Modify the RCA code so that when the Isolated-Suppression
algorithm encounters an interface on the path that has the same
IP address as the chassis, it looks for events on the chassis
too and suppresses any events it finds on the chassis.

Year to date implies all data from the beginning of the current year.

Abstract: THE NCP_NCOGATE PROCESS NEEDS TO BE ABLE TO OPTIONALLY UPDATE AN
EVENT WHEN THE TOPOLOGY LOOKUP FAILED.
Description: The problem it addresses is the fact that the 3.8 gateway will
simply discard events that fail the topology lookup. This means that the
Impact policy which the customer has chained off the gateway's update will
never be triggered because the event is not updated.
Added the following to the gateway configuration file:
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
// This is optional for events moving from ITNM to Omnibus that failed in the
// topology look up. An example of when you might use this is to update a flag
// in the event to indicate that ITNM has finished processing the event. This
// flag could then be used by an Impact policy to initiate further processing
// of the event.
//
// Note that after processing the EventFilter defined in config.ncp2nco will be
// applied.
//
create table config.topoFail

Abstract: SINGLE QUOTES REQUIRED WHEN USING LITERALS IN POLLING POLICY,
HOWEVER THE GUI REPLACES QUOTES WITH &#039, BREAKING POLICY.
Description: When creating a Poll Definition involving a literal string, the
literal must be placed within single quotes. If you don't place
the string in quotes, the poller throws the error "error in
template" ... I believe this is expected.
However if you quote the string, it appears the quotes are
replaced by the string "'". This happens if you change
between the tabs (eg "Trigger Threshold" to "Clear Threshold"
and back to "Trigger Threshold") while creating a new poll
definition. It also happens when you save the poll definition
and then bring that poll definition back up for editing. If you
save the definition and edit a 3rd time, the "&" in "'" is
replaced by "&". And this replacement of the "&" will go on
continuously.

In a ITNM failover setup with primary and backup on two

there occurs an connection issue, Virtual domain should recover
from this once the connection can be re-established, but this
did not always happen. So when there is a tcp connection between

due to firewall/network issues, intermittently the system does
not reconnect properly which will result in the backup ITNM not

IBM Tivoli Network Manager IP Edition 3.8 Fix Pack 7 is available as a separate install for Solaris, AIX, Windows and Linux.

This Fix Pack installer is cumulative and can be applied to any previous
maintenance level of Tivoli Network Manager IP V3.8. Some of the steps in this document may
have already been done if you applied a previous Fix Pack and don't need to be reapplied.

Ensure that there is approximately 1 gigabyte of free space on the drive
on which the product was installed

Note: When using the Windows command line, preface and suffix environment
variables with the percentage sign %, and replace each forward slash (/)
with a backslash (\) in directory paths.
For example, on Windows systems, $NCHOME is %NCHOME%.

While applying a FixPack, GUI properties file in $NCHOME/etc/precision/default and $TIPHOME/profiles/TIPProfile/etc/tnm/default will be overwritten. Back up these files before applying the fix pack and merge them with customized ones after applying the fix pack. See readme .txt file for detail.
