    Internet Explorer 11

    JazzSM 1.1.3.0 DASH 3.1.3.0 CP6

2.2 Component Updates

Java has been updated to version 1.8.0_181 (8.0 SR5 FP20)
WebSphere Application Server Liberty has been updated to version 18.0.0.2

    Derby 10.14.2.0

2.3 Enhancements in Fix Pack 14

Fix Pack includes the following enhancements:

  • IBM Runbook Automation (RBA)  (IJ02154):
If a user has the Runbook Automation add-on installed, additional Predefined filters can be added via the Impact GUI, by performing the following actions:

       1. Expand the RBA_Derby datasource to reveal the data types.

       2. Right click on the RBA_PredefinedFilters data type and select view Data items.

       3. Click on the top left "New Data item" button.

       4. Insert the required fields for the new Predefined Filter into the data item fields in the Data Item Field Editor.

If using the FILTEROPERATORS, 'LIKE' or '=', surround the FILTERVALUE field with single quotes. For example:

          FILTERVALUE:'myFilterValueText'

Set the FILTERTYPE to PREDEFINED i.e: FILTERTYPE:PREDEFINED

      5. Click Save

NOTE:

The newly added predefined filter will be available to be used in the RBA DASH GUI after 5 minutes. The RBA release that contains this feature was released on August 24th 2018.

  • NOI: Provide process and functions to update NOI Data and Source Type for the new Configuration UI to refresh information
    • A new UI Data Type function is now available to update data type from within a policy.
    • A new Data Source Resource API is now available, to update data source from within a policy using a new function.
    • New Function and Process to Dynamically Add Rollups and view them in DASH
    • Make NOI configuration actions less manual
  • Pattern Matching Functionality.

    • You can now extend pattern matching functionality in the following two ways to enable the discovery of a pattern instance on more than one resource:

    • Using regular expressions:  You can define a regular expression to apply to the contents of the resource field during pattern matching. Resource names  that match the regular expressions are candidates to be included in a single pattern. You can optionally specify a regular expression when you create a pattern.

    • Using name similarity: This feature uses a string comparison algorithm to determine whether the resource names contained in two resource fields are similar. Name similarity is used when patterns are suggested and when live events are correlated to identify pattern instances. The end result is that during pattern processing of live events it is possible to have more than one resource name in a single pattern instance if the string comparison algorithm determines that the resource names are similar. By default name similarity is enabled.

For more information, refer to Fixpack 14 documentation in Knowledge center.

  • Migration of rollups in Netcool/Impact v7.1.0.13 (and above)
    • Fix pack v7.1.0.13 (and above) uses a new format for the creation of rollups that is different to previous versions of Netcool/Impact.  Refer to the following link for additional information and to take additional actions:

Migration of rollups in Netcool/Impact v7.1.0.14

  • Many of the Impact Command Line Interface (CLI) scripts allow/accept user credential information to be passed as clear text.  The following list of CLI scripts have been adjusted to allow for prompting of the password (which now hides the text).

NOTE: The prior option of passing all credential information as clear text, will still be available!

The following scripts have been updated and now prompt and hide the credential information:

install/security/confAuth4LDAP
install/security/confAuth4OMNIbus
install/security/configImpactSSL
install/security/configImpactSSO
install/security/configUsersGroups
bin/nci_add_service
bin/nci_db
bin/nci_policy
bin/nci_sendevent
bin/nci_trigger
bin/nci_encryptpolicy

  • The nci_collect_logs script now accepts new parameters
  • Usage: ./bin/nci_collect_logs [  NO ARGUMENT | -DexcludePolicyEtcFiles=true | -Dlogfilelocation | -help ]

Refer to the topic “Collecting log files for debugging” in the Tivoli Netcool/Impact 7.1 Trobuleshooting General Issues Wiki Page for more details:

3.0 Known Issues in Fix Pack 14

  • ITNMEventListener fails to start, if connecting to ITNM versions 4.2.  Currently, only versions 3.8 and 3.9 are fully supported.
  • The following applies only to Netcool/Impact Clients with  Netcool Operations Insight (NOI) - and only for those with Existing configurations!!!   After upgrading to Netcool/Impact 7.1.0 FP13 (and above), run through the Wizard; confirm, verify & save the configuration. Refer to: Event Analytics Configuration

    1. It is a known issue that custom rollup changes to properties and params files are overwritten. Running through the wizard will repair these.
    2. Also for seasonality View, it is advisable to run through the Wizard to make sure the right columns are displayed.  Refer to the following link for appropriate actions: Migration of rollups in Netcool/Impact v7.1.0.14
  • The EventReader service for Seasonality Events is called "ProcessSeasonalityEvents" and it does not (by default) read updated or de-duplicated events. "Get updated events" is not selected (by default) in the UI for the "ProcessSeasonityEvents" Service, on the Event Mapping tab.
The reason for this is due to the wide Filter for the "ProcessSeasonityEvents" Event Reader service. By default, the filter is set to "1=1". With this wide filter, if "Get updated events" was enabled, and Seasonality rules fired, this could lead to an infinite loop. i.e. Seasonality Rules updating events which in turn get read by the reader and fire the Seasonality Rules again.
The solution is for the Event Mapping Filter to be set, in such a way, as to avoid already processed events. i.e. if the Seasonality rules are setting the Service field to "something" then the Event Mapping Filter could be set to restrict these.
  • NOI: Impact Event Isolation and Correlation page does not load if non-default cluster name is used (such as NCICLUSTER_Z )
    • To resolve this issue, perform the following actions:
      • stop the Impact GUI server $IMPACT_HOME/bin/stopGUIServer.sh
      •  copy or rename the file with the correct cluster name. For example:
        • cp $IMPACT_HOME/opview/displays/NCICLUSTER-EIC_configure.html $IMPACT_HOME/opview/displays/NCICLUSTER_Z-EIC_configure.html
      • restart the Impact GUI server $IMPACT_HOME/bin/startGUIServer.sh
      • go to the Event Isolation and Correlation page and confirm the page is displayed without the errors.
  • If  IF 6 is not uninstall prior to installing Fixpack 14,  Fixpack 14 Installation will fail due to  httpclient-4.5.5.jar file permission issue. The FP14 installation will generate the following error if the IF not first remove:  "CRIMA1020E: Failed to extract zip com.ibm.tivoli.impact.ibm_connections_jar 1.0.0.0.a7612a807baaae562962dec40f65859. File /opt/IBM/tivoli/impact/dsalib/httpclient-4.5.5.jar already exists."

Workaround: Uninstall Interim Fix 6, then install Fixpack 14.

Prerequisites

IBM Tivoli Netcool/Impact 7.1.0.0 or 7.1.0.4 Refresh must be installed before applying this Fix Pack.

Notes:

  • If you plan to install 7.1.0.14 from Passport Advantage, the version of Installation Manager on your machine should be 1.8.3 or higher.

  • If you have previously installed 7.1.0-TIV-NCI-IF0006, then it must be un-installed, before installing FP14. If not, the Fixpack 14 Installation may fail due to a file permissions issue with the httpclient-4.5.5.jar file.

For information about supported hardware and software, check the Software Product Compatibility Reports (SPCR) here:

http://www-969.ibm.com/software/reports/compatibility/clarity/index.html

And the Planning Section in the Netcool/Impact Administration Guide:

Installation Instructions

When using the 7.1.0-TIV-NCI-*-FP0014.zip, IBM Tivoli Netcool/Impact 7.1.0.14 can be installed on all previously installed fix packs, including 7.1.0.4 refresh.

If you have previously installed 7.1.0-TIV-NCI-IF0006, then it must be un-installed, before installing FP14. If not, the Fixpack 14 Installation may fail due to a file permissions issue with the httpclient-4.5.5.jar file.

For those migrating from previous releases (5.1.1 or 6.1/6.1.1), you can install Impact 7.1.0.14, using the Impact 7.1.0.14 “Full installer” package (rather than the zip packages listed below) and then migrate directly to 7.1.0.14.

The following table contains a list of files included in this Fix Pack and operating systems associated with these files:

all platforms * 7.1.0-TIV-NCI-FP0014.README

Note: The installer only works for 64 bit architectures

Note 1: If you plan to install 7.1.0.14 from Passport Advantage, the version of Installation Manager on your machine should be 1.8.3 or higher. Older versions of Installation Manager (1.7.3 for example) will not work, as they do not support the TLS protocol.

Note 2: Starting with Impact 7.1.0 Fix Pack 10, a new utility is now available (and run automatically right before the update; unless the update is done via the Passport Advantage repository!). This new utility is the Impact server Health Check utility!  This utility will perform an overall Health Check of Impact, prior to allowing the update installer to continue with the update. The utility is also available as a standalone utility; which can be retrieved via the following url:
