This document will list the known defects in IBM TechZone. These defects are also listed in JIRA for prioritization and tracking.
This document serves as a central repository for tracking TechZone known issues, their current status, and resolutions. It provides visibility to our users prior to opening a support case by referencing timelines for fixes and documented resolutions. Each entry includes a title, description of the issue, affected areas, workaround (if available), status, and relevant updates. Regular updates ensure transparency and prevent duplicate case submissions, streamlining issue resolution across teams.

Defects and Status as of February 4, 2026
 
Issue: V2 Bugs with Extension and Deletion
Expected Result: When a user extends or deletes a reservation, the corresponding behavior should occur
Actual Result: Deletion results in an error, extension option greyed out

Issue: TechZone Hub url on the Support Page errors out with Content Expired
Expected Result: When a user clicks on the Support Page and navigate to TechZone Hub, they should be redirected to the TechZone Hub page.
Actual Result: When a user clicks on TechZone Hub they get error Content Expired

Issue: Extend limits are not visible for Few users 
Expected Result: User are able to see the extend limits without any issue.
Actual Result: Users are able to see the extend limits without clearing the cache everytime

Issue: pattern-ibmcloud-power-vm fail2ban Issue
Expected Result: Successful deployment of environment using the pattern-ibmcloud-power-vm pattern
Actual Result: pattern-ibmcloud-power-vm pattern fails due to fail2ban errors

Status: Fix is currently being tested
 
 
Issue: adding Keycloak to Techzone IDP
Expected Result: I had IBM Concert setup to auth with Techzone IDP, however, the newer version of concert require authentication to go thru Keycloak. I setup Keycloak per other setup I've done, but I'm getting the below error and I believe the entity ID needs to be added to techzone IDP: Your request cannot be processed. CSIAC4610E Unable to retrieve the application's configuration for the Entity ID https://keycloak-keycloak.itzroks-662002dawp-32ka3a-1ae633b7504858422983e172a3db3266-0000.us-south.containers.appdomain.cloud/realms/IBMConcert because there is no match found.
Actual Result: Should be able to authenticate thru Keycloak

Issue: creating new Quarkus enablement content for Techzone
Expected Result: Need help creating new Quarkus enablement content, and help publishing it via TechZone
Actual Result: reserve an environment successfully

Issue: Guacamole access not being auto-assigned
Expected Result: When a Guacamole Reservation is shared with a user, they should be auto-granted access in Guacamole
Actual Result: The Guacamole access is not being auto-granted
Workaround: The IBM TechZone Support Team is able to grant Guacamole access manually through a Support Case

Status: Pending the GitOps v2 Launch
 
 
Issue: Workshop Manager only grants 68 hours instead of expected 72 hours
Expected Result: New workshops should be allowed 72 hours
Actual Result: New workshops only being allowed max of 68 hours
Workaround: The IBM TechZone Support Team is able to grant 72 hour duration manually through a Support Case

Issue: Watsonx Account Vending Environments have issue with inventory or general platform asset catalog running into error at time of creation
Expected Result: The setup for inventory completing 
Actual Result: The display of the error “Something went wrong during setup” when trying to create inventory or being prompted to contact the administrator to be granted access.
Note: Please report this to the TechZone Support Team through opening a Support case. 
Workaround: There are currently two workarounds for this issue: 
1. Create a new reservation
2. Open a Support Case with IBM Cloud
    a. Please only do this if you have already begun work in the environment and have constraints preventing redo of that work
    b. The TechZone team will also need to grant you access to do so, please let TechZone Support know if this is the route you would like to proceed with
    c. This process can take around a week to complete and may require escalations and justification if submitted with severity greater than Sev-3 (business impact in dollar amount, or negative customer impact)
    d. Open the IBM Cloud case with the team specific to the service that is failing
    e. You will need to include our account owner "dtead02@us.ibm.com" in the watchlist of the support case
    f. Please be sure to add dtead02@us.ibm.com and all ITZ-* access groups as admin to Default Inventory and any other catalogs you create

Issue: AWS-VM pattern displays account DTE in output
Description: AWS-VM pattern is displaying an incorrect name for the account where environment is deployed.
Jira Case: ITZ-1434

Status: ETA TBD

 
Issue: System2 pipeline not updating start and end dates on reservation details page
Description: For systems2 pipeline, at booking, when ICARE sends back changed dates because no resources are available, the dates on the page are not updated, so the end user would think the initial dates are still valid, whereas they were modified in the background

Issue: EU6-MAD02 is currently configured as in eu-de, should be eu-es
Expected Result: Successful deployments to EU6-MAD02 with no additional configuration required
Actual Result: Deployments to EU6-MAD02 fail due to misconfiguration
Work Around: Edit the region in the environment definition if explicitly requesting EU6-MAD02

Issue: Template to Collection Issues
Expected Result: Successfully add new template to collection
Actual Result: Process intermittently fails due to various errors

Status: Currently being worked on by TechZone Team. Currently no ETA on resolution.
 
 
Issue: Lab Code Status Showing "Ready" Without Showing VM List
Expected Result: Ready labs should show full list of environment VMs
Actual Result: VM list is missing on labs showing as Ready

Issue: Events manager showing "any" for available regions
Expected Result: The display of specific regions
Actual Result: Specific regions are not being displayed, the options displayed say "any"

Issue: Public network access : inbound/outbound traffic
Expected Result: Require inbound/outbound traffic to public network from this environment
Actual Result: No access to public network

Issue: User Feedback from NPS Form regarding VMWare connection issue
Expected Result: Users should be able to login to VM after enrolling into a course
Actual Result: User received error message saying "Error: Unable to connect, likely the session expired prior to you launching the link."

Issue: Lab Environment Assignments in Rainfocus
Expected Result: Users should be assigned to next available environment when they register for the lab

Expected Result: Users should be able to view comments on Collections
Actual Result: Pre-existing comments are not shown until the user adds a new comment to the Collection

Issue: Creating Support Cases from the Workshop Details Page
Expected Result: The link labeled "Open a case with support" on the Workshop Details page should allow users to create a Support Case.

Expected Result: User expects to specify the intended timezone for Workshops to aid instructors
Actual Result: Page locks up when timezone value is updated

Issue: User Feedback from NPS Form regarding issue with emails from Workshop Manager Tool
Expected Result: Email regarding feedback should contain a URL to feedback utility

Issue: IBMers and Partners are unable to see the Create Content button
Expected Result: An IBMer or a Partner should be able to navigate to the My created collection page and be able to click the create content button.
Actual Result: IBMers and Partners do not see the create content button.

Issue: New Users Accepting Terms
Expected Result: New users should be able to see the terms and accept them once with no /403 along the way and start using the site quickly. 
Actual Result: Users have to accept terms twice and do not see the content of terms displayed on the page. Additionally they get a /403 after accepting terms twice.

Issue: In the Collection Edit Form, the overflow menu crashes page when open on two tables at the same time
Expected Result: First menu closes, then second menu opens
Actual Result:  The page crashes when a second menu is opened

Issue: Maximo 9.1.x Pipeline Failures
Expected Result: Successful deployment of Maximo 9.1.x
Actual Result: Pipeline fails during deployment
Resolution: Maximo Reservations are now available in the TechZone Certified Base Images under the Pre-Installed Software journey - August 27, 2025
 
 
Issue: Sharing Feature Fails for Guacamole on VMWare
Expected Result: A user should be able to connect to the VMWare servers after having the Reservation shared with them
Actual Result: Guacamole access is not granted when Reservation is shared
Workaround: IBM TechZone Support Team is able to manually grant Guacamole access after the Reservation is shared with a user

Resolution: Code update in 09.02.25 Standard Release
 
 
Issue: watsonx Orchestrate instance is showing the error “It got cloudy in here…”
Expected Result: Users expect to be able to access WatsonX Orchestrate successfully
Actual Result: An error is being thrown and Orchestrate is inaccessible and the error “It got cloudy in here…” is shown.
Workaround: 
  • The instance that is not loading typically has "https://cloud.ibm.com/" in the URL
    • Example: https://cloud.ibm.com/landing/auth?crn/.../3A5b528db9-04b5-41ba-8406%3A%3A
  • The beginning of the URL should be changed to "https://us-south.watson-orchestrate.cloud.ibm.com/"
    • Example: The above Example URL should be changed to https://us-south.watson-orchestrate.cloud.ibm.com/landing/auth?crn/.../3A5b528db9-04b5-41ba-8406%3A%3A
 
Jira Case: ITZ-7737
Status: A permanent fix is expected to be deployed at the end of November
Issue: Unable to access the ROKS cluster for DataGate for Watsonx workshop
Description: There is an issue with accessing a ROKS clusters with DataGate for Watsonx workshops, but not with singular reservations. 
Jira Case: ITZ-1860
Status: This is still under review as the setup for it is specific to this environment as a workshop. 
 
 
Issue: Workshop Timezones
