Description

IBM SPSS Analytic Server is a solution for big data analytics that combines IBM SPSS technology with big data systems.  Analytic Server provides users with familiar IBM SPSS user interfaces to solve problems on a previously unattainable scale.

The following features and enhancements are introduced in version 3.4.0.

Platform support

  • Support for Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) Private Cloud Base 7.1.7
  • Support for Red Hat 8.x
  • Support for Big SQL 7
  • Support for R 4.0.x
  • Support for Java 11

Impala

  • Impala performance has been improved for non-pushback functions.

Data export

  • Data can now be exported to Apache Hive-partitioned tables.

Fixed issues

  • PH44414: Analytic Server now works with the Hive_on_Tez service.
  • PH44416: Precheck no longer fails when attempting to add Analytic Server as a service on CDH 6.3.

Known issues

Issue: Running an IBM SPSS Modeler stream that includes the TA node (Text Mining or Text Link Analysis) via remote Analytic Server might fail when the Hadoop (Analytic Server) Java version is not Java 8. The stream might also fail with Java 8 when not on the x86 platform.
Solution: On each Analytic Server cluster node, create the link file <java_home>/jre/lib/amd64. When using Java 8 under Power System, link the file to <java_home>/jre/lib/ppc64le. When using Java 11, x86, or Power System, link the file to <java_home>/lib. Restart Analytic Server after linking the file.
