IBM SPSS Analytic Server is a solution for big data analytics that combines IBM SPSS technology with big data systems and allows you to work with familiar IBM SPSS user interfaces to solve problems on a previously unattainable scale.

The following features and enhancements are introduced in version 3.1.

Platform support

• Support for Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) v2.6 on both the x86 and PowerLinux platforms. Hive 2.1 with HDP 2.6 is not supported at this time.
• Support for Cloudera 5.10
• Support for Apache Impala v2.8 running on Cloudera against an Analytic Server database data source or an HCatalog data source (regardless of whether Impala is SSL enabled)
• Support for Huawei FusionInsight HD 2.6

• Support for DB2 Enterprise Server Edition 11.1
• Support for Teradata 15.1
• Support for MongoDB 3.2. MongoDB is an open source, cross platform, document oriented database program. Classified as a NoSQL database program, MongoDB uses JSON-like documents with schemas.

• Optimized the Analytic Server Spark Cache by reusing intermediate data objects in the same job and releasing cached objects after they are no longer being used.
• Utilized the Spark dynamic allocation feature by allowing Analytic Server to apply resources (number of spark executors) up and down based on the workload.
• Optimized the Analytic Server execution flow to decrease disk and network IO cost.
• Improved performance when creating HCatalog Datasource operations for large Hive Metastores.
