Abstract

This document describes how to download maintenance packages and interim fix packages for IBM Spectrum Protect for Space Management 8.1.x.y.

Check the following sections to determine for IBM Spectrum Protect for Space Management:

Packages on PTF distribution website

All IBM Spectrum Protect for Space Management maintenance packages and the interim fixes can be accessed by using the PTF distribution website. The HTTPS link in the section "Download package" directs to the PTF distribution website.

However, these maintenance packages and interim fixes available through PTF distribution website do not contain the required license enablement files. For initial installation of IBM Spectrum Protect for Space Management, you must obtain your packages, with the associated license enablement files, from the Passport Advantage Online website.  


 

Packages on Fix Central online

To get the most current features and enhancements, it is required to update IBM Spectrum Protect for Space Management client from a previous version or release. Maintenance packages and interim fixes are delivered on Fix Central. The HTTP link in the section "Download package" directs to the Fix Central online website.

However, these maintenance packages and interim fixes available through Fix Central do not contain the required license enablement files. For initial installation of IBM Spectrum Protect for Space Management client, you must obtain your packages, with the associated license enablement files, from the Passport Advantage Online website.


 

Packages on Passport Advantage Online

The Passport Advantage Online website has complete packages of IBM Spectrum Protect for Space Management for download. To download IBM Spectrum Protect for Space Management 8.1.15, using the Passport Advantage® Online website, see IBM Spectrum Protect for Space Management 8.1.15.
The packages available through Passport Advantage are the base level packages. For any maintenance packages and interim fixes, check Fix Central or PTF distribution website.

Note:

  • Downloading any files indicates acceptance of the terms and conditions detailed in the IBM Program license agreement.
  • Maintenance fix pack packages and readme files for the IBM Spectrum Protect for Space Management client, include both English and non-English-language clients where supported.

Download Package

The HTTP link in the Download Options column directs you to the following sites:

  • PTF distribution website:
    PTF distribution website provides fixes for maintenance packages and interim fix packages.

  • Fix Central online website:
    Fix Central provides fixes for maintenance packages and interim fix packages for your system's software, hardware, and operating system. Fix Central is a secure website that requires you to log in using your IBMid. You can acquire an IBMid at  Sign up to IBMid.
    You can locate the packages on the Fix Central online website by using the product name, version, and platform as the search query. For example, use the "IBM Spectrum for Space Management".

Reminder: The packages available through Fix Central do not contain license enablement files. Install previous a base level package before you use these packages.

Interim fixes are only delivered on a subset of platforms, as advised to wait for the fully tested fix pack that contains the fix. However, if you have a business need for a fix on a different platform than listed in download section before the next fix pack, contact IBM Support.
