IBM Spectrum Protect server upgrade can fail with SQL6028N

Problem

Upgrading IBM Spectrum Protect server can fail when cataloging the DB2 database

Symptom

In the ../InstalationManager/logs/ directory you will find an xml file that matches the data and time stamp when you ran the upgrade. The format will be YYYYMMDD_HHMM.xml. You may see the errors:


INFO: SQL6028N Catalog database failed because database "TSMDB1" was not found in the local database directory.
INFO 13:24.14 INFO: RC: 4
INFO: Command for cataloging database: db2 catalog db TSMDB1 on /home/tsminst1/sqllib
ERROR An error occurred catalog database: TSMDB1
INFO: SQL1013N The database alias name or database name "TSMDB1" could not be found. SQLSTATE=42705
