Abstract

This document describes how to download and install this fix pack for IBM® Rational® Functional Tester, Version 7.0 and 7.0.0.1.

Download Description

Rational Functional Tester Fix Pack 7.0.0.2 contains enhanced functionality as well as fixes to version 7.0 and 7.0.0.1.
This release contains the following new features:

  • Support for testing AJAX-based Web applications.
  • Extended functional testing support on the SAP GUI controls for HTML (mySAP).
  • Support for .Net 2.0 controls - Includes support for recording and testing applications that contain ToolStrip, WebBrowser and SplitContainer.
  • Support for testing applications on Microsoft® Windows® Vista platform in 32-bit mode. The supported editions are Vista Business, Ultimate and Enterprise.
  • Playback support for HTML applications on Mozilla Firefox 1.5 and 2.0 on Linux ®.
  • Object Library -  Allows you to configure the class object's recognition properties and property weights.
  • Enhanced Eclipse support - Improved stability when docking or undocking editors and views.
  • Supports testing applications based on Eclipse 3.2.2.
  • Translated user assistance - Most user assistance components such as online help, tutorials, sample, Welcome, and tours are available in the following national languages:
    • Brazilian Portuguese
    • Chinese -Traditional
    • French
    • German
    • Italian
    • Japanese
    • Korean
    • Spanish (not including online help)

To add the ClearQuest Test Manager perspective to Functional Tester, install ClearQuest 7.0.0.1 plugins into Functional Tester using IBM Installation Manager.
The ClearQuest plugins are available for download at the bottom of this page. Ensure that you have already installed ClearQuest 7.0.0.1 in the system.

Prerequisites

  • Before you update Rational Functional Tester, close the Eclipse and Visual Studio IDEs, as well as any open Web browsers, and all other applications that are enabled by Functional Tester.
  • This fix pack requires IBM Installation Manager, Version 1.0.0.3.
  • If you are installing or upgrading Rational Functional Tester on Microsoft Windows to use the .NET Scripting feature, you must copy msvcp71.dll into the System32 directory (C:Windows\System32), if it is not already available.

Installation Instructions

<b>Additional requirements </b>
<ul> <li>If you are extending an Eclipse IDE, before you install this fix pack you must install version 3.2.2 or higher of the Eclipse IDE and one of the following Java runtime environments: <br clear="left">

<li>For Windows: IBM 32-bit Runtime Environment for Windows, Java 2 Technology Edition, Version 5.0 service release 4; Sun Java 2 Platform Standard Edition Runtime Environment Version 5.0 Update 11 for Microsoft Windows
<li> For Linux: IBM 32-bit Runtime Environment for Linux on Intel® architecture, Java 2 Technology Edition, Version 5.0 service release 4; Sun Java 2 Platform Standard Edition Runtime Environment Version 5.0 Update 11 for Linux x86 (not supported for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server [SLES] Version 9) </ul>

<p>The following are the two common ways to install this update:
<ul> <li>If IBM Rational Functional Tester, Version 7.0 or 7.0.0.1, is already installed on your system, you can install this update using the Update Packages wizard in IBM Installation Manager. For general instructions on installing an update, refer to the section <i>"Updating Rational Functional Tester" </i>in the Installation Guide.
<li>If you are installing IBM Rational Functional Tester, Version 7.0, for the first time or if you are installing an additional instance of it, then you can install this update when you install IBM Rational Functional Tester, Version 7.0. Click <b>Check for updates </b> on the Install page of the Installing Packages wizard in IBM Installation Manager. </li> </ul>
<p>For general instructions on installing an update, refer to the section <i>"Installing IBM Rational Functional Tester by using the IBM Installation Manager graphical interface"</i> in the Installation Guide.
<p>If you are installing Functional Tester for the first time on Windows Vista, see the section <i> "Installing Rational Functional Tester, Version 7.0.0.2 for the first time on Microsoft Windows Vista" </i>in the Readme.
<p>By default, the update is installed directly from the IBM update repository; however, it is also available for download. For details, see the Readme.

<b>Installing ClearQuest 7.0.0.1 plugins into Functional Tester </b>

Installing ClearQuest plugins directly from IBM update repository:

  • If IBM Rational Functional Tester is already installed on your system, click Check for updates on the Install page of the Install Packages wizard in IBM Installation Manager. Select ClearQuest 7.0.0.1 from the list of the offerings and follow the on-screen instructions to proceed with the installation.
  • You can also install ClearQuest 7.0.0.1 while installing Functional Tester. In IBM Installation Manager, select Functional Tester in the Install page of the Install Packages wizard, and click Check for updates. Select ClearQuest 7.0.0.1 from the displayed list of offerings and follow the on-screen instructions to proceed with the installation.


Downloading ClearQuest plugins for local installations:
  • Download ClearQuest 7.0.0.1 from the location specified at the bottom of this page. Extract the files to a temporary directory. In the IBM Installation Manager, click File > Preferences and add the ClearQuest repository location (temporary directory\cq\updates\ ) to the list of repositories. Use the Install Packages wizard of the Installation Manager to proceed with the installation.
