Where do you find your license for IBM Rational Developer for Power Systems Software and what license do you need?
IBM Rational Developer for Power Systems Software replaces IBM Rational Developer for i. The process by which the licenses were distributed for IBM Rational Developer for i and, now, IBM Rational Developer for Power Systems Software has changed.
Previously, the activation kits which included the license keys for IBM Rational Developer for i were downloaded from the product distribution site such as Passport Advantage.
In a consolidated effort, Rational product licenses are now maintained and managed by the Rational License Key Center.
To receive your IBM Rational Developer for Power Systems Software license, you will need to have purchased or be entitled to the software, register, and access the Rational License Key site.
Once registered, you will be able to download the license enabling a permanent or floating license using IBM Installation Manager.
When you view the applied licenses using the IBM Installation Manager, you will see two licenses listed. Your copy of IBM Rational Developer for Power Systems Software will have a permanent license included with the original installation of the product.
The RPG and COBOL Development Tools for i is a plug-in that provides the IBM Rational Developer for i functions as well as new features. It is the plug-in that requires the installation of the permanent or floating license you will download from the Rational License Center site.
Once you have downloaded and installed the license, the type of license should change from trial to floating or permanent.
