Release Notes for Monitor 9.1.0
-
Seamless, ready out of the box integration with Maximo Manage
- Maximo Monitor 9.1 now provides zero-config integration with Maximo Manage, streamlining the user experience and reducing configuration overhead.
- It leverages shared authorization services for unified access control across all Maximo Application Suite applications and delivers a consistent interface through common navigation elements.
- The integration automatically synchronizes asset and location hierarchies between systems, eliminating the need for manual imports or Data Dictionary configurations.
- Additionally, it simplifies meter integration by allowing users to send data from any Maximo Monitor metric directly into a Maximo Monitor meter through an intuitive UI, without requiring manual cron task setup.
- For more details, please see Integrating with Maximo Manage
-
Enhanced Edge Data Collector (EDC) device library
- Maximo Monitor 9.1 introduces significant enhancements to the Edge Data Collector (EDC), including a robust Device Library and support for Managed Gateways.
- Over 120 preconfigured device connectors have been added to the device library, with support for protocols like Modbus, OPC-UA, BACnet/IP, and MTConnect.
- Users can now add custom device connectors using two streamlined methods: Import Device Settings via JSON/CSV files or Scan by Protocol, which auto-discovers devices and datapoints.
- Managed Gateways, fully controlled by IBM, simplify the integration of OT devices that don’t support MQTT. These updates enable faster onboarding, broader protocol support, and more efficient data ingestion from industrial environments.
- For more details, please see Adding PLC, OPC UA, and custom devices to the device library
-
Template setup
- Maximo Monitor 9.1 introduces Template Setup, a feature designed to streamline the creation and deployment of KPIs and dashboards across similar resources.
- Instead of manually configuring metrics for each resource (e.g., multiple locations or buildings), users can now define a template—a reusable blueprint containing calculated metrics and dashboards.
- These templates can be applied to resource types such as sites, locations, device types, and more. Users can choose from built-in templates or create custom ones, significantly reducing repetitive setup tasks and ensuring consistency across the system.
- For more details, please see Template setup
-
Improved Aveva PI SCADA historian integration
- The Aveva PI SCADA Historian integration in Maximo Monitor 9.1 enables seamless connectivity between Aveva PI Historian and IBM’s monitoring platform.
- This integration allows users to configure connections to the PI Data Archive, map tag data to device types, and transmit real-time data using the MQTT protocol.
- Once configured, users can validate and deploy the integration using Docker commands, view incoming data through recent events and trends, and manage the integration settings directly within Maximo Monitor.
- This enhancement supports more efficient data ingestion, visualization, and analytics, helping organizations make informed decisions based on live operational data. For more information, Please see Adding data from AVEVA PI System
-
Meter-Metric mapping
- Maximo Monitor 9.1 introduces Meter-Metric Mapping, a feature that enables seamless integration between Maximo Monitor and Maximo Manage by linking device metrics to meters.
- This allows real-time device data and calculated metrics to be viewed directly within the Manage User Interface, supporting more informed decision-making. Users can configure mappings from the Maximo Monitor UI or from specific entity pages (like Location, Asset, or Device), and manage them through options to edit, delete, or toggle synchronization.
- They can also view this data directly within asset pages in Manage, enhancing operational visibility. Syncing occurs every five minutes, and users can control whether data is actively pushed to meters.
- This enhancement bridges operational data with asset management workflows for improved visibility and control. For more details, please see Integrating with Maximo Manage
-
Role Based Access Control
- Maximo Monitor 9.1 introduces Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), enabling administrators to manage user access through security groups rather than individual permissions.
- This approach enhances security by ensuring users only access the features and data relevant to their roles. Out-of-the-box groups like
MONITOR_ADMIN and MONITOR_USERS provide predefined access levels, while custom groups allow for tailored permissions. Users can be assigned to multiple groups, with cumulative permissions shaping their experience in the Maximo Monitor UI.
- This update supports better governance, segregation of duties, and a more secure, role-aligned user environment. For more details, please see Using role-based access control
-
API and IOT security
- Maximo Monitor 9.1 enhances security and integration flexibility with improved API key management and IoT security settings. Users can configure API keys with various scopes and roles directly from the setup menu.
- For IoT connectivity, the platform supports secure MQTT broker access using TLS with token-based authentication or client certificates, including the option to upload CA certificates for added verification.
- Additionally, IoT Security Groups allow tokens to authenticate multiple devices within the same group, streamlining secure device communication. These updates strengthen data protection and simplify secure integration with external systems.
-
Pin dashboard support for all hierarchy resources
- All Fixes and APARs fixed in 9.0.x fixpacks are included in this release
