These instructions must be repeated for each version of IBM Java for AIX that needs to be downloaded, installed, upgraded, and/or downgraded.
For assistance with custom installations, administrators must contact the product support team or vendor that provided the custom installation.

Prepare
Determine the desired version, build, Service Refresh (SR), and/or Fix Pack (FP) of the IBM Java for AIX to be installed, upgraded, or downgraded.
Three popular references that can assist with the IBM Java for AIX version selection are:
1. The IBM Java for AIX Service Information and Downloads web page provides a list of all versions and upgrades (APAR) for the IBM Java for AIX.
2. The IBM Java for AIX Fix-Only Downloads Categorized By Common Groups of Fixes web page provides common groups of fixes (or upgrades).
3. The IBM Java Vulernability and Security Alert web page provides the list of CVE (vulnerabilites) and the release levels containing the fixes.
Additionally, administrators may need to consult with their application developers or application vendors to determine the correct version and release for their specific application.
Install a New IBM Java Version
Option A. Download and install the FIRST or LATEST release
Step 1 | Use the "IBM Java for AIX Service Information and Downloads" web page: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=isg3T1022644 to select and download the FIRST or LATEST release for the desired version. |
Step 2 | Follow the steps listed on the web page: IBM Java for AIX HowTo: Install the FIRST or LATEST Release of an IBM Java Version to complete the installation of the downloaded files. |
Option B. Download and install to a specific release level
Step 1 | Use the "IBM Java for AIX Service Information and Downloads" web page: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=isg3T1022644 to select and download the FIRST release for the desired version. |
Step 2 | Using the same web page mentioned in Option B. Step 1. above, select and download the desired APAR (Service Refresh) release. |
Step 3 | Follow the steps listed on the web page: IBM Java for AIX HowTo: Install or upgrade IBM Java to a specific release (e.g., Service Refresh or Fix Pack) to complete the installation of the downloaded files. |
Modify an Existing IBM Java Version
Option A: Download and upgrade to the LATEST release level
