What’s New in IVA v2.5

IBM® Intelligent Video Analytics V2.5 introduces new features and functions to enhance already powerful video analytics capabilities that include:

• A new pricing model and product structure
• Support for IBM POWER9™ infrastructure as well as integration with IBM PowerAI Vision modeling software
• Container-based delivery for two primary Intelligent Video Analytics components
• Support for latest versions of video management systems

Overview

Intelligent Video Analytics V2.5 delivers new cognitive video analytic capabilities to help users analyze, catalog, and index video (real time or archived) captured from both fixed cameras and cameras in motion. Analyzing the video rapidly and accurately helps organizations across a variety of industries to uncover insights, anomalies, and patterns to help them identify and address operational risks and aid resolution of those issues.

New in Version 2.5:

• A simpler pricing model that includes new charge metrics and product structure to deliver increased business value.
• Support for POWER9 platform for the deep learning engine (DLE) software to provide improved performance.
• Support for Pelco VideoXpert Enterprise Video Management System version 2.5.
• Support for Genetec Security Center v5.7 and Milestone Xprotect Corporate (XCPO) 2016 to enable quick and easy integration with leading video management software. The video management system tags and stores the raw video footage which is then analyzed by IBM's Intelligent Video Analytics software.
• Basic integration with PowerAI Vision modeling software that lets organizations easily create new object models without the need for advanced AI or data science skills or deep developer expertise. These cognitive models can then be used within Intelligent Video Analytics to analyze video footage to detect and track these objects. The models can be iteratively improved so that they get more accurate over time.
• Container-based delivery for the Deep Learning Engine (DLE) and Middleware for Large Scale Surveillance (MILS) software components to support faster installation and upgrades
• Updated training models for age estimation that take advantage of recent enhancements from IBM Research
• Privacy protection, selective search criteria and event details, and selective disabling of metadata attributes.

Collectively, these capabilities offer far more accurate and adaptive techniques to address various analytic needs when compared to traditional algorithm-based approaches

Installing the Solution

IBM Intelligent Video Analytics provides separate installation programs for installing the Middleware for Large Scale Surveillance (MILS) component, the Smart Surveillance Engine (SSE) component, and the add-on component for the Deep Learning engine (DLE).

Before you begin

To deploy Intelligent Video Analytics, you must first plan your environment to ensure that you implement the necessary hardware and software that is required for your intended usage. Prepare the clients and servers before you install the software.  After you determine the appropriate configuration for your installation, and you size and configure the required storage, you are ready to install the solution.

For new Intelligent Video Analytics installation, complete the steps outlined in “Procedures – New IVA Systems”.  If upgrading an IVA v2.0 system to IVA v2.5, complete the steps in “Procedures – Upgrading from IVA v2.0”.

Procedures – New IVA Installations

1. Download the installation media for IBM Intelligent Video Analytics v2.5.
2. Download and install the IBM Intelligent Video Analytics v2.5 bundled products: DB2, MQ, WAS.
3. Install the MILS component.        
4. Install the SSE component .
5. Install the DLE component.
6. Complete the operator and administrator client browser configuration and setup tasks.
7. If you are integrating a video management system (VMS) that is not already installed, install a supported VMS system.
8. Complete the post installation steps.
9. Run an end-to-end solution verification test.
    

Procedures – Upgrading from IVA v2.0

            Follow the steps outlined here if upgrading to IVA v2.5 from IVA v2.0.  Upgrading from versions earlier than v2.0 are not supported.
