IBM InfoSphere Information Server, Version 11.5.0.0 Mod Pack for in Place Upgrade From 11.3.x

In-place upgrades from 11.3.0.0 - 11.3.1.2 to 11.5.0.0 are now supported using an 11.5.0.0 mod pack.

11.5.0.0 is also available as a full suite image downloadable from IBM Passport Advantage, but this method will not allow for an in place upgrade. It requires a migration of existing assets for 11.3 to 11.5

For a full list of fixes contained in Information Server 11.5.0.0 please reference the 11.5.0.0 Fix List.
Please note that 11.5.0.0 contains all fixes from 11.3.0.0-11.3.1.2, please reference all fix lists as appropriate to understand the APARs resolved in 11.5.0.0
For any APARs that are applied to an 11.3 environment that are not referenced in the 11.3 Fix Pack fix lists or the 11.5 fix list, please contact IBM Support through normal channels to have the patch rebuilt for 11.5

Before installing 11.5.0.0, in place upgrade from 11.3.x:

• If the patch JR54719 for ISF is installed:

• • 1. If the patch JR54719 for ISF has been applied to the 11.3 installation, it must be uninstalled or reversed prior to the in-place upgrade.
    Customers that have not installed any patch after the ISF JR54719 patch can simply uninstall the ISF JR54719 patch.
    However, if additional patches were installed after JR54719 was installed (and these additional patches cannot be uninstalled) then the changes of patch JR54719 must be reversed.
    Install the JR54719 rollback patch to reverse the changes of patch JR54719 (without having to uninstall subsequent patches that were installed after JR54719).
    2. After JR54719 is uninstalled or the rollback JR54719 patch is applied, complete the upgrade to 11.5
    3. Re-install the JR54719 patches (both for IGC and ISF) for 11.5. If the JR54719 rollback patch was used, you will need to use the -force option when reinstalling the ISF JR54719 patch.

 

• It is recommended to install WebSphere fix Pack 8.5.5.5 or later prior to performing the in place upgrade, see the prerequisite section below for additional details.


• 11.5.0.0 includes the fix for JR50424 which requires the WAS patch PI18109 (first available in WAS 8.5.5.4). Please verify the WebSphere Application Server version being utilized with the current 11.3.x installation before installing the 11.5 Mod Pack. Refer to FLASH 1699884 for additional details.


• If you installed the metadata repository on an Oracle database or Microsoft SQL Server, you must set up database schemas and users before you install the 11.5 Mod Pack, see Setting up database schemas and users for the Data Quality Exception Events component
• Please reference the IBM InfoSphere Information Server, Version 11.5 release notes and note the section "Changes in this release" for a list of older Connectivity stages were removed and fully replaced by their newer counterparts in order to optimize the connectivity infrastructure
• Information Analyzer column analysis jobs and metadata import through IMAM intermittently fail while using DataDirect Drivers that are included for Information Server 11.3.x Refer to FLASH 1903427 for additional information and resolution. It is recommended to install the 7.1.5 drivers as part of the 11.5 in place upgrade. Links to the drivers will be provided with the Fix Pack download, please consult the checklist below to ensure the correct files are obtained.
• If you are upgrading from the 11.3.0.0 base install of Information Server, there is a restriction on creating an InfoSphere DataStage and QualityStage operations database (DSODB). You cannot create a DSODB on either Oracle or SQL Server because the necessary scripts are not available for InfoSphere Information Server. If you require this capability, please contact IBM Support through normal channels. If you are upgrading from a base install of Version 11.3.1.0, you are not affected.
• Information Server 11.5 includes a product called Data Quality Exception Console (DQEC) which supersedes the product called Data Quality Console (DQC) found in 11.3.x and earlier versions of Information Server. If DQC is present as part of an Information Server 11.3.x installation that is to be upgraded, you MUST uninstall DQC BEFORE applying the upgrade pack to upgrade to Information Server to 11.5. Refer to the Knowledge Center for guidance on removing individual product modules. DQEC will be installed when the upgrade pack is applied.

Download Checklist:
Information Server 11.5.0.0 may be downloaded from Fix Central using the link in the Download package section of this document. Within Fix Central, choose the package for the platform on which your services and engine tiers are installed. Fix Central can be configured to determine the proper requisite packages you need, including those packages that are necessary for the client tier. Use this checklist to validate that your download from Fix Central is complete and you have all the necessary files to perform the installation.
