How To
Summary
Periodically, you may need to identify the name of an iBase security database in MS SQL Server, this technote provides the instructions to do this.
Objective
To identify your iBase database's security file (.ids).
Steps
Method 1: Use iBase Designer to show the name of the security database.
1) Open your database's .idb file in iBase Designer. Enter your username and password.
2) Go to "File" -> "Security File Properties", and observe the name of the security database in MS SQL Server.
Method 2: If you cannot open the database .idb file from iBase Designer, an alternative option is to identify which .ids file was used to open the .idb. This can be done by examining the audit history in the dbo_AuditLog table in MS SQL Server Management Studio. After you have identified the name of the .ids, log on to the.ids from iBase Designer, and use the "Security File Properties" option to identify the name of the security database in MS SQL Server.
1) In SQL Server Management Studio, expand the "tables" section under the Log database. Open the dbo_AuditLog table (it is sufficient to use the first 200 rows). In the "detail" column, move to the right until you see the .ids that was used to open the .idb. This is the name of your .ids file.
2) Launch iBase Designer, and log on to the .ids. Click "File" -> "Security File properties". The menu will display the name of your security database in MS SQL Server. This is similar to the example shown in Method 1.
