Problem
When working on an ANB chart, if the computer crash, or if Analyst's Notebook crash, you will lose any unsaved chart/work.
With the use of the autosave option ANB is able to perform auto-save of the charts, (only if this feature is enabled), so that when you launch ANB again, the charts you were working on are restored (from a recent auto save).
But sometimes, this may not work, and when you launch ANB, nothing is restored.
Diagnosing The Problem
You first must check that this feature is enabled, and that the delay before (and between) the auto save.
In the ANB Options, go in the Save parameter, and check that the "Save Chart every" option is enabled :

It is recommended to choose a short delay (1 or 2 minutes).
Having a longer delay (like 5 or 10 minutes, or more) will increase the risks of loosing the chart if ANB or the computer crash before this delay.
Resolving The Problem
It is recommended to regularly test the Auto-Save function of ANB to check that it is working correctly.
To do the test :
- In ANB, open the Options - Save parameter, check the location of the Auto Save folder.
- Set the auto-save timer to 1 minute.
- In a Windows browser, open this folder
- Create one or two sample ANB charts.
- Check in the Auto-save folder the creation of some new files, with the name rcfXXXXX.~i2 (with XXXXX being a number)
- Use the Windows Task Manager to force-kill ANB. This is to simulate a crash of ANB, or a computer crash
- Reopen ANB. The charts that were open should be displayed
The default location for the Auto-Save ANB charts is in "My Documents\AppData\Local\Temp"
as this folder is not easily accessible (as it's hidden), you may want to change it (in the ANB options) to something easier, like "My Documents\i2\ANB Auto-Save\" or something similar.
It is recommended to test the Auto-Save function about 1 or 2 times a year, to check that it is working.
