Problem

Resolving The Problem

This document describes the requirements for IBM i Access Client Solutions (ACS) Console and Virtual Control Panel (VCP).

IBM i Access Client Solutions (ACS) Console and Virtual Control Panel (VCP) requires IBM i OS 6.1 or later, plus additional mandatory PTFs.

Attempting to connect the console to an IBM i partition that does not meet the minimum requirements may fail with error Unable to launch 5250 console for system <name> because the current system configuration is not applicable for this task.

Attempting to connect RCP to an IBM i partition that does not meet minimum requirements may fail with error: MSGSSL001 - An Error was encountered during a secure socket operation. (SSL V2.0 servers are not supported.)

The minimum requirements are defined in the ACS readme. Supported IBM i release are IBM i 6.1 and later with the following PTFs.

If you will be using the 5250 Console or the Virtual Control Panel feature for an IBM i at release 6.1, load and apply the following PTFs:
o MF55543
o MF55549

If you will be using the 5250 Console or the Virtual Control Panel feature for an IBM i at release 6.1 with machine code 6.1.1, load and apply the following PTFs:
o MF55540
o MF55547

If you will be using the 5250 Console or the Virtual Control Panel feature for an IBM i at release 7.1, load and apply the following PTFs:
o MF55485
o MF55538

Notes:
1. IBM i 6.1.0: No respin is available with the required PTFs.
2. IBM i 6.1.1: Included in RS-J and later.
3. IBM i 7.1.0: Included in TR5 (RS-F) and later.
