1. Set up Call Home, Email Alert and Inventory Configuration for IBM FlashSystem
Verify with IBM support that a problem record is created after 'Test Call Home'
- Proactive component diagnostic is enabled via IBM ServiceCenter event transmission
- Speed up problem resolution time via automated ticket creation
2. 'Run Fix' for any open event immediately.
- Full system redundancy is restored via 'Directed Maintenance Procedure'
3. Control your data center environment. Monitor temperature, humidity and air quality.
- A controlled environment will improve FlashSystem performance, reliability and lifetime
4. Use individual UserID to keep track of system modification. Do NOT use the 'admin' ID.
- Individual UserID will improve system security and audibility
5. Create a configuration backup file after a major change in system config.
- In the unlikely event of a full system configuration loss, the svcconfig file is a good reference
6. Have a backup plan to switch operation to another system.
- A backup plan will reduce the possible business impact in the event of a complete site failure
7. Subscribe yourself to IBM 'My Notification' for your IBM product
- IBM will send out important product information, based on your delivery preferences
8. Take advantage of 'Best Practice' from IBM Redbook
- To simplify system administrator daily work, IBM Redbook are a good reference
9. Review the firmware recommendation at least every 6 month
- Keep your firmware at minimum level or above to improve system stability and reliablity
