IBM Spectrum Virtualize for Public Cloud is software that is deployed on IBM Cloud infrastructure to virtualize cloud block storage for virtualized or physical application running in the public Cloud. Native IP based storage replication IBM Spectrum Virtualize for Public Cloud provides a new storage-based replication services for hybrid cloud solution to combine on-premises and cloud storage for greater flexibility at lower cost across a range of RPO/RTO targets. IBM Spectrum Virtualize for Public Cloud only enables data replication and migration between local storage and the IBM Cloud, and between IBM Cloud data centres. Integration with VMware plug-in like Site Recovery Manager, this hybrid cloud solution uses a fully tested IBM Storwize Site Recovery Adapter (SRA) to deliver business continuity across a wide range of failures. It further brings flexibility to an organization by enabling migration of virtual infrastructure workloads between data centre and cloud.

With data in IBM Cloud new age use cases like using data for Dev-Ops, reporting and analytics clients are looking for quick access to data copies and automated way of managing and maintaining the copies of data. IBM Spectrum Copy data management provides data re-use capabilities as a part of Multi Cloud Business continuity and data re-use solutions. IBM Spectrum CDM is used directly on the IBM Spectrum Virtualize for Public Cloud volumes through a set of integrated APIs.
