IBM FileNet IDM Desktop Windows Service application is generating "Non-NULL controlling IUnknown was specified/provider does not support COM aggregation" errors.

Problem

A Windows Service created with the IdmDesktop FnDBProvider object is generating the following error: "Non-NULL controlling IUnknown was specified, and either the requested interface was not IUnknown, or the provider does not support COM aggregation. " A similar application running as a thick client runs properly.

Symptom

Windows Service halts and generates this error.
