Troubleshooting
Problem
During the installation of IBM Content Collector (ICC) 4.0.1 with Base and Fix Pack 15 on a 64-bit operating system, the installation fails due to missing prerequisites. The installer reports that the following components are missing:
IBM FileNet Content Engine Client
IBM FileNet Content Engine .Net API
Symptom
During the installation of IBM Content Collector on Windows Server 2019 is showing prerequisites missing.
Steps to Reproduce the Issue:
- Install IBM Java 8 SDK
- Install FileNet version 5.5.10 or 5.5.11 or 5.5.12 or 5.6.0
- Begin the installation of ICC Base version 4.0.1. - ignore the pre-requisite missing issue.
- Now install ICC fix pack version 15.
- During the pre-installation check, the system flags missing prerequisites for IBM FileNet Content Engine.
- Despite attempting to proceed with the installation, we will get error while initial configuration & we are not able to connect to FileNet server (CPE).
Cause
The missing prerequisites prevent the ICC from connecting with the IBM FileNet Content Platform Engine (CPE) server, rendering the ICC inoperable and blocking further configurations.
Resolving The Problem
To resolve this issue by following below steps.
- Install the IBM FileNet Content Engine Client (CPECL) version 5.5.8 Base. This is the minimal base version that can work with ICC.
- After installing the base version, upgrade to CPECL Higher version 5.5.10, 5.5.11 , 5.5.12 or 5.6.0 as required.
- CPECL should be installed on default drive i.e C:// . Base version followed by upgrade version should be installed under same default directory
- After upgrade the higher version please check Environmental variable is present or not , If Environmental variable is not present, follow the below steps:
- Open the control Panel.
- Search with Environment Variables.
- In system variables clicks on New button.
- Enter the Variable name = IBMAFUFNCEROOT
- Enter the variable value = C:\Program Files\IBM\FileNet\CEClient
- Once the upgrades are complete, re-run the ICC Fix Pack installer to verify if the issue is resolved.
NOTE :
1) ICC FP15 will support CPE 5.6, provided it is upgraded from any version starting with 5.5.8 or later.
2) IBM Content Collector (ICC) FP16 is compatible with CPE client versions N (5.6 and later, 5.6+) and N‑1 (5.5.12). For versions older than N‑1, an upgrade to a supported level is strongly requested to maintain compatibility and ensure a stable environment.
CPE 5.6 with ICC FP 15 is supported but not tested.
