Abstract
This workshop delivers an introduction to the architecture of IBM DS8000® as well as configuration concepts that use the Graphical User Interface (GUI) and storage DS8000 Command-Line Interface (DS CLI). We also emphasis IBM Z® I/O configuration and the famous IBM DS8000 zSynergy concept that make this storage suitable for IBM Z.
A significant emphasis is put on the copy services and copy services management of the IBM DS8000, where we start with the basics in terms of snapshots and replication, covering the various Peer-to-Peer Remote Copy (PPRC) options. Later we elaborate on advanced architectures like IBM Z HyperSwap® and their management with Geographically Dispersed Parallel Sysplex™ (GDPS®) or IBM Copy Services Manager.
This workshop is rounded up with insights to the latest IBM DS8000-only advanced features like transparent cloud tiering or such for cyber resiliency.
