Question

IBM DB2 with BLU Acceleration Pattern multiple fixpack version support

Cause

The "DB2 installation level" drop down returns empty or duplicate results

Answer

With IBM Pure Application System 2.1.2.0 upgrade, the IBM DB2 with BLU Acceleration Pattern type version 1.2.3.0 is available for install.

The IBM DB2 with BLU Acceleration Pattern type version 1.2.3.0 ships with DB2 10.5.0.6 out of the box but it is also backwards compatible with older versions of the DB2 Blue Acceleration Patterns and hence can also deploy the DB2 versions available in those.


In certain cases, when there are old versions of IBM DB2 with BLU Acceleration Pattern available on IBM Pure Application System, the "DB2 installation level" drop down returns empty or duplicate results and the following steps would ensure a smooth transition to IBM DB2 with BLU Acceleration Pattern type version 1.2.3.0 :

1. Install IBM DB2 with BLU Acceleration Pattern type version 1.2.2.2 which is also available with IBM Pure Application System 2.1.2.0 for backward compatible to install DB2 version 10.5.0.5.

2. Install IBM DB2 with BLU Acceleration Pattern type version 1.2.3.0.

3. Disable the following versions of "IBM DB2 with BLU Acceleration Pattern" from Catalog -> Pattern Types if enabled on the IBM Pure Application System.

a. IBM DB2 with BLU Acceleration Pattern 1.2.0.0

b. IBM DB2 with BLU Acceleration Pattern 1.2.0.1

c. IBM DB2 with BLU Acceleration Pattern 1.2.0.3

d. IBM DB2 with BLU Acceleration Pattern 1.2.2.0

e. IBM DB2 with BLU Acceleration Pattern 1.2.2.1

4. IBM Pure Application System should not have have plugins with name "pattern.db2" under Catalog -> System Plug-ins that do not have a relative "IBM DB2 with BLU Acceleration Pattern" version under Catalog -> Pattern Types.

5. IBM Pure Application System should have a minimum of one IBM DB2 universal fixpack version later than Fixpack 6 uploaded to Catalog -> DB2 Fix Packs (Virtual Systems) .

Example : v10.5fp7_linuxx64_universal_fixpack.tar.gz .
