IBM DataPower SOAP request object lifecycle

News

Abstract

This document provides information about the lifecycle of IBM DataPower objects with SOAP requests to the XML management interface.

Content

IBM DataPower appliances continue to provide functionally rich technology to the market place through new and enhanced capabilities. New firmware versions add, remove, and change the names for objects. To minimize the business impact of change to customers, this document lists how you might need to change scripts before you upgrade firmware versions.

Configuration objects

In 7.0.0, the following changes were made to configuration objects.
  • The EthernetInterface and VLANInterface objects removed the following elements because they are always enabled.
    • UseARP
    • UseIPv6
  • The EthernetInterface and VLANInterface objects replaced the following elements with the IPConfigMode element. If you use a combination of static and automatic configuration (values dhcp or slaac), the resultant configuration uses the static configuration.
    • UseDHCP
    • UseSLAAC
  • The EthernetInterface and VLANInterface objects replaced the StandbyControls element and its child elements with the following independent elements.
    • StandbyControl - This element is new and controls whether to support a standby group.
    • Group
    • VirtualIP
    • SecondaryVirtualIP
    • Preempt
    • Priority
    • SelfBalance
    • Authentication - This element previously represented the AuthHigh and AuthLow elements.
    • HelloTimer - This element is new and sets the frequency to broadcast hello messages.
    • HoldTimer - This element is new and sets the duration to wait before a failover attempt.
    • DistAlg
  • The NetworkSetting object removed the StandbyControlMacTakeover element.
  • The NetworkSetting object removed the TCPSegmentationOffload element. The function is replaced by the HardwareOffload element of the EthernetInterface object.
  • The VLANInterface object replaced the Interface element with the OverType and EthernetInterface elements

Status objects

In 7.0.0, the following status objects were obsoleted. Each obsoleted status provider has one or more replacement status providers.
  • The CryptoEngineStatus object is replaced by the CryptoEngineStatus2 object.
  • The DomainsMemoryStatus object is replaced by the DomainsMemoryStatus2 object.
  • The EthernetInterfaceStatus object is replaced by the following objects.
    • The IPAddressStatus object for IP address status.
    • The LinkStatus object for Link status.
    • The NetworkInterfaceStatus object for network interface status.
  • The FirmwareVersion object is replaced by the FirmwareVersion2 object.
  • The NDCacheStatus object is replaced by the NDCacheStatus2 object.
  • The ODRConnectorGroupStatus object is replaced by the ODRConnectorGroupStatus2 object.
  • The RoutingStatus2 object is replaced by the RoutingStatus3 object.
  • The ServicesMemoryStatus object is replaced by the ServicesMemoryStatus2 object.
  • The VLANInterfaceStatus object is replaced by the VLANInterfaceStatus2 object.
