IBM Data Studio 4.1.4: How to install IBM Installation Manager

Summary

This document describes how to install IBM Installation Manager on Linux and Windows operating systems for IBM Data Studio 4.1.4.

Steps

For installing IBM Data Studio 4.1.4, you first need to install the latest version of IBM Installation Manager.
The Installation Manager installer is packaged along with the installation files of Data Studio 4.1.4:
  • Windows: agent.installer.win32.win32.x86_64_1.9.1006.20210614_1906.zip
  • Linux: agent.installer.linux.gtk.x86_64_1.9.1006.20210614_1906.zip
The GM folder, is the Data Studio 4.1.4 installer package that has the following contents:

  • Documentation folder
  • Enterprise deployment folder (for silent installation)
  • Installation Manager 64-bit compressed file
  • IBM Data Studio 4.1.4 compressed file
You can use both 32-bit as well as 64-bit files for installing the Installation Manager.
 
  1. For Windows: Extract the Installation Manager package:
    agent.installer.win32.win32.x86_64_1.9.1006.20210614_1906

    For Linux: Run the following commands to extract the Installation Manager package:
    1. Command 1: cd Desktop/GM
    2. Command 2: unzip -q agent.installer.linux.gtk.x86_64_1.9.1006.20210614_1906.zip -d agent.installer.linux.gtk.x86_64_1.9.1006.20210614_1906
  2. Double-click the executable 'install' file:

  3. On the Install Packages window, ensure that the Installation Manager version is 1.9.1.6 and click Next:

  4. Read and accept the license agreement, then click Next:

  5. Ensure that the default installation directory is as follows and click Next:
    On Windows: C:\Program Files\IBM\Installation Manager\eclipse
    On Linux: /opt/IBM/InstallationManager

  6. Review the summary information and click Install:

  7. After successful installation, click Restart Installation Manager:

    After restarting Installation Manager, you should get the startup screen, which indicates that the Installation Manager package is successfully installed:
