Release description

IBM Daeja ViewONE, version 4.1.5, makes it easier for business and IT professionals to view large documents and images in their enterprise content management (ECM) solution or in other custom applications, websites, intranets, and extranets.

Download location

To download IBM Daeja ViewONE:

1. Log in to Fix Central.
   
   
2. In the Product Group list, select Enterprise Content Management.
   
   
3. In the Select from Enterprise Content Management list, select the Daeja ViewONE edition that you want to download.

You must have a license to download this software.

The file that you download is a multiple-product installer for IBM Daeja ViewONE Standard, IBM Daeja ViewONE Professional, and IBM Daeja ViewONE Virtual. When you run the installer, indicate the products for which you have a license. The installer then enables only those products you have purchased.

Prerequisites before installing IBM Daeja ViewONE, version 4.1.5

You must run the installer as an administrative user.

Before you install IBM Daeja ViewONE, Version 4.1.5:

• Uninstall any previous version of IBM Daeja ViewONE before you install IBM Daeja ViewONE, Version 4.1.5.
• Ensure that the Java™ Runtime Environment (JRE) V6, V7 or V8 up to 8.0 Update 51 is installed on your system. JRE V6 is is the minimum version required for the installation program. The viewer requires a later version. For the JRE versions that are supported by the viewer, see the detailed systems requirements.

Installing IBM Daeja ViewONE, version 4.1.5

You can run the installer interactively or silently.

To run the installer silently, update the sample response file that is provided with the image archive before you run the installer.

Windows

At a command prompt, change to the directory where you extracted the installation image.

To install the viewer interactively, enter the following command:

DAEJA_VIEWONE_4.1.5_WIN_ML.exe

Alternatively, double-click DAEJA_VIEWONE_4.1.5_WIN_ML.exe in Windows Explorer.

To install the viewer silently, enter the following command:

DAEJA_VIEWONE_4.1.5_WIN_ML.exe -f fully_qualified_path_of_the_response_file

UNIX

At a command prompt, change to the directory where you extracted the installation image.

To install the viewer interactively, enter the following command:

./DAEJA_VIEWONE_4.1.5_UNIX_ML.bin

To install the viewer silently, enter the following command:

./DAEJA_VIEWONE_4.1.5_UNIX_ML.bin -f fully_qualified_path_of_the_response_file

New features

IBM Daeja ViewONE, Version 4.1.5, provides the following new features:

• Enhancements to email Rendering
  IBM Daeja ViewONE Version 4.1.5 provides an alternative email rendering mechanism for both IBM Daeja ViewONE Professional and Virtual, which provides pagination of emails, rendering fidelity and general presentation improvements.
  
  Important: For environments other than IBM Content Navigator, the Office module is required in order to use this feature.
  
• Streaming of email and email attachments in IBM Daeja ViewONE Professional
  The IBM Daeja ViewONE Document Streaming Server Module can now be used to stream email and email attachments using the new email renderer.
  
  To stream emails, you must set the emailRenderer parameter to 2 on the client.
  
  Important: For environments other than IBM Content Navigator, the Office module is required in order to use this feature.

• Email redaction in IBM Daeja ViewONE Professional and Virtual
  The IBM Daeja ViewONE Permanent Redaction Server Module can now be used to redact the content of the main email, including header information such as Subject, To, and From fields and the textual list of attachments. If the email contains attachments, you will be able to view the attachments when redacting however you will not be able to redact the attachments.

To redact emails, you must set the emailRenderer parameter to 2 on the client.

Important: Email redaction is supported in standalone environments.

• Support for redaction in IBM Daeja ViewONE Virtual in ICN
  Support has been added for redaction in IBM Daeja ViewONE Virtual in ICN environments.

• Extension of the API to allow for custom drag rectangle in IBM Daeja ViewONE Virtual.
  Extended the IBM Daeja ViewONE API to allow for the ability to create a Custom drag rectangle, providing Javascript events; startUserDragMode, isUserDragMode and endUserDragMode.

• Support for showing/hiding the status bar in IBM Daeja ViewONE Virtual
  IBM Daeja ViewONE Virtual now provides the ability to choose whether the status bar is displayed or not.

• Image stamp URL macro substitution
  IBM Daeja ViewONE provides the ability to specify a root URL with a place holder for image specific parameters, and additionally, dynamic parameters that are only known at runtime, e.g. a security token.

• Installer Console Mode available
  The IBM Daeja ViewONE installer now provides support for Console Mode, allowing you to run the installation program from the command line.
• Enhancements to JavaScript API for IBM Daeja ViewONE Virtual

Support for additional JavaScript methods and events are provided in IBM Daeja ViewONE Virtual to help you customize the viewer.

Known problems, issues, and limitations

When viewing Microsoft Office Word documents, SmartArt objects might not be displayed. This feature is currently unsupported in the IBM Daeja ViewONE Virtual and Professional Modules for Microsoft Office.

When running the 4.1.5 Installer with Java V8 Update 60+, the following error will displayed "Windows error 2 occurred while loading the Java VM”. Please use a version of Java older than V8 Update 60 to run the installer.

Important: IBM Daeja ViewONE Professional and Virtual products are designed to support as many file types as possible. However, the products are not able to render every type of file with the same accuracy as native applications, such as Microsoft Word. The flexibility of the viewers can lead to differences in the way that the documents are displayed between the native application and the viewers. The severity of the differences varies depending on the complexity of the file type. In particular, PDF files and Microsoft Office files are difficult to render with complete accuracy in a universal viewer.

Fixes included in IBM Daeja ViewONE, version 4.1.5

The following APARs are fixed in this product release for customers who have direct entitlement to IBM Daeja ViewONE. IO23837	Redaction in Permanent Redaction Server Module in the IBM Daeja ViewONE Virtual trials is failing with license error.
