Download Description

IBM Copy Services Manager 6.2.0.1 is the latest fix pack version of IBM Copy Services Manager.

Fixed in this Release

APAR / IssueDESCRIPTION
Defect 68561 SUSPENDING A METRO MIRROR RELATIONSHIP IN ONE SESSION RESULTED IN A GLOBAL COPY RELATIONSHIP GETTING SUSPENDED IN A SEPARATE SESSION

An issue was found where a Suspend command was sent to one session for DS8000 volumes, and the
freeze processing included the relationships in a separate session. In 6.2.0, Copy Services Manager
introduced the ability to define a user-defined consistency group name for Metro Mirror role pairs. Due to Defect 68897, the role pair of a session might get marked with an empty string instead of null. When this happens, role pairs across multiple sessions might end up being considered in the same consistency group, and therefore process the freeze together. The fix in 6.2.0.1 prevents the freeze from affecting the second session unless the user-defined consistency group name is something other than null or an empty string.

*** It is critical that any customer running at the 6.2.0.0 level of Copy Services Manager with a mix of Metro Mirror and Global Mirror sessions, upgrade both servers to the 6.2.0.1 level as soon as possible to avoid the issue. ***
Defect 68971 BASIC HYPERSWAP SESSION TYPE GOES SUSPENDED INSTEAD OF TARGET AVAILABLE AFTER AN UNPLANNED HYPERSWAP

In an environment running a Basic HyperSwap session type, an unplanned HyperSwap can leave the
session in a suspended state instead of a target available state. A defect was found that prevents the
session from processing the event that indicates that a HyperSwap has occurred. This issue does NOT
affect regular Metro Mirror sessions with HyperSwap, nor does it affect three-site solutions with
HyperSwap, such as Metro Global Mirror.

*** It is highly suggested that customers running a Basic HyperSwap session upgrade to the
6.2.0.1 release or higher ***
Defect 68897USER-DEFINED CONSISTENCY GROUP NAME MIGHT APPEAR FOR ROLE PAIRS THAT DO NOT SUPPORT THE FEATURE AFTER A TAKEOVER ONTO THE STANDBY SERVER

In an environment where there is both an active and a standby Copy Services Manager server, if a
takeover is issued to the standby server, role pairs that do not support a user-defined consistency group
name might start showing a user-defined consistency group name on the Session Details panel. An issue was found during the takeover that resulted in the role pair consistency group name being set to an empty string instead of null. This situation led to the GUI displaying the role pair on the Session Details panel. With this fix, the GUI should no longer display the role pair under the consistency group names after a takeover; thereby avoiding any confusion on the availability of the feature.
Defect 68221UPDATES TO SUPPORT IMPROVED DISCOVERY OF DISCONNECTED STORAGE SYSTEMS UNDER FICON ATTACHED STORAGE

Additional enhancements were made to support the IOS Discovery APAR OA51429. Customers that only connect Copy Services Manager to DS8000 storage systems through a FICON interface, need to
upgrade to the 6.2.0.1 or higher version for support of this feature after applying APAR OA51429 to their z/OS system.
Defect 68453AN UNPLANNED HYPERSWAP FOR A MULTI-TARGET METRO MIRROR - METRO MIRROR SESSION RESULTED IN REMAINING IN A SUSPENDED STATE AND NOT TARGET AVAILABLE

When running a multi-target Metro Mirror-Metro Mirror session with HyperSwap enabled, an issue was found where the event indicating that a HyperSwap had occurred was not processed because the session already processed a suspend event for the session. A timing window was found where the Copy Services Manager server might process the suspend event for a pair before processing the HyperSwap event from IOS. When this situation occurred, the session moved to a Suspended state, and was marked as HyperSwap not being enabled. A fix was added so that the session continues to be marked as HyperSwap enabled. Therefore, the HyperSwap event will get processed to move the session to the Target Available state.
Defect 68008WHEN SELECTING VOLUMES IN THE REMOVE COPY SET WIZARD BY USING SHIFT-CLICK, NOT ALL THE COPY SETS GET SELECTED

An issue was found in the Remove Copy Set wizard, where if you scroll too fast through the table and
select a range of volumes using shift-click, not all the volumes end up selected after you click the next
button. This issue was due to the fact that the table had not properly loaded all the copy sets. A fix is
provided in 6.2.0.1 so that the shift-click feature now works correctly, and the option to Select All is
provided.
Defect 67921VARIOUS ISSUES WITH SAMPLE JOBS IN COPY SERVICES MANAGER Z/OS PACKAGE

A number of issues have been fixed in the sample jobs provided in the Copy Services Manager z/OS
installation package.
Defect 68691WHEN USING ESE VOLUMES FOR THE JOURNAL VOLUMES IN A GLOBAL MIRROR SESSION, REMOVING THE COPY SETS WITH THE KEEP ON HARDWARE OPTION LEAVES THE FLASHCOPY RELATIONSHIPS ON THE HARDWARE

You can use Extent Space Efficient (ESE) volumes for the journal volumes in a Global Mirror session to save cost at the remote site. If you have to remove copy sets from the session, there is an option on the remove action to keep the relationships on the hardware. When this option is used, the Global Mirror constructs are removed on the hardware for those copy sets; however, the Global Copy and FlashCopy relationships remain on the hardware. Unfortunately, if the journal volume is an ESE volume, by leaving the relationship on the hardware, the space for that ESE volume does not get freed up, and additional writes to the source of the FlashCopy can lead to you running out of backend space. With this fix pack, a new property can be added to the rmserver.properties file that you can use to specify that the remove copy set command with the keep on hardware option, can remove the FlashCopy relationships.

Add the following property to the rmserver.properties file:
com.ibm.csm.session_name.rolepair.ignore.keeponhw=true
where session_name is the name of the session that you are removing copy sets from, and rolepair is the name of the role pair that you want to remove from the hardware.

For example:
com.ibm.csm.mysession.H2-J2.ignore.keeponhw=true
Defect 68579REMOVE COPYSET PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENTS

In the 6.2.0 release, enhancements were made to improve the performance for removing copy sets from a session. With 6.2.0.1, we are introducing further enhancements that should help speed up the time to remove copy sets in large environments.
