Troubleshooting
Problem
After upgrading the system from Commonstore for SAP to ICC for SAP, document archival can begin to fail for certain sets of documents where it succeeded in the past.
Symptom
The following error message occurs in the csserror.log found in the ICCSAP_installation/log directory;
TSM API dsmSendData() failed with RC=157, Reason=0: ANS0278S (RC157)
The transaction will be aborted.
Cause
There is a not a sufficient amount of TSM mount points opened.
Environment
IBM Content Collector for SAP Applications
Tivoli Storage Manager
Diagnosing The Problem
The legacy application CommonStore for SAP was able to "cache" jobs, in the event that the TSM queue has reached capacity and can't accept more jobs, whereas ICC for SAP does not have this feature and will send all documents for archival in one batch, therefore TSM is unable to ingest the number of documents that are being archived to it by ICC for SAP.
Resolving The Problem
Increasing the TSM mount points by setting MAXNUMMP
(i.e the number of TSM mounts) resolves the issue, in other
words, it allows TSM to ingest more documents from ICC for SAP with the number
of mounts increased and thus it also resolves any socket timeout errors.
