IBM Cloud Pak System Upgrades for Version 2.3.5.1

General Page

This document provides upgrade information about IBM Cloud Pak® System Version 2.3.5.1.

 

OVERVIEW:
This upgrade must be run under an administrator account.
 
PREREQUISITES:
  • This upgrade can be performed on IBM Cloud Pak System Software Power BYOH 2.3.5 environments.
  • The following path relates to the upgrade from Version IBM Cloud Pak® System Software for Power:
    Versions 2.3.5.0 → 2.3.5.1
  • For each interim fix pack (IFP), the Platform Systems Manager (PSM) upgrade takes approximately 2 hours.
 
Notes:
  • The content update involves loading new files only. The customer is responsible for enabling new content for use from the System > Catalog menu.
  • 1-hour management user interface outage during Platform Systems Manager (PSM) upgrade.
  • Existing workloads continue to run, and new deployments are blocked during the upgrade.
  • The upgrades can be performed directly. If any issues arise during the process, a support case can be raised through the MySupport page.
 
PRE-UPGRADE QUICK CHECKLIST:
  • Put the CPS Software into maintenance mode.
  • If Callhome is set up, disable it.
    • Select the option not to create a service ticket and not to collect logs.
  • Collect and check system health under System > Troubleshooting.
    • Collect System Logs..., select System Health Check.
    • Run System Health Report.
    • Verify that there are no critical errors or problems.
  • Upload the upgrade package and run Check.
  • Review the known issues before you start the upgrade.
  • If your (client's) system includes a backup schedule, then:
    • Plan maintenance around the backup schedule, or
    • Get client approval to disable backup to allow maintenance to complete and re-enable the backup upon completion.
 
POST-UPGRADE QUICK CHECKLIST:
  • Check and verify critical problems and events; if verified, clear them.
  • Remove Maintenance mode.
  • Collect System Health log.
  • Import new content data.
