Abstract

The new Open Source Aspera CLI v4.x version is now available, which replaced the previous Aspera CLI versions.

Since older versions of the CLI are deprecated, all clients must move to the supported Aspera CLI v4.x located here.

The aspera-cli Gem provides a command-line interface (CLI) which interacts with Aspera Products (mostly by using REST APIs):

  • IBM Aspera High-Speed Transfer Server (FASP and Node)
  • IBM Aspera on Cloud (including ATS)
  • IBM Aspera Faspex
  • IBM Aspera Shares
  • IBM Aspera Console
  • IBM Aspera Orchestrator
  • And more...

ascli Provides the following features:

  • Supports most Aspera server products (on-premises and SaaS)
  • Any command-line options (products URL, credentials, or any option) can be provided on command-line, in configuration file, in environment variables, in files
  • Supports commands, option, values and parameters shortcuts
  • FASP Transfer Agents can be: local ascp, or Connect Client, or any transfer node
  • Transfer parameters can be altered by modification of transfer-spec, this includes requiring multi-session
  • Allows transfers from products to products, essentially at node level (by using the node transfer agent)
  • Supports FaspStream creation (by using Node API)
  • Supports Watch folder creation (by using Node API)
  • More command plug-ins can be written by the user
  • Supports download of Faspex and Aspera On Cloud "external" links
  • Supports "legacy" ssh based FASP transfers and remote commands (ascmd)
Going forward, the support of the new CLI v4.x is handled directly with the Aspera development team through the IBM Aspera issues site, not through the traditional IBM Aspera Support portal.
