Troubleshooting
Problem
When sending or receiving mail, sendmail fails to process the mail because the header section of the mail is too large.
Symptom
The error message "552 5.6.0 Headers too large" is logged to the syslog mail facility.
Cause
By default, the maximum size of a mail header that sendmail accepts is 32768 bytes.
Resolving The Problem
Change the MaxHeadersLength option in sendmail.cf to a size that's appropriate for the mail being processed.
The sendmail daemon must be stopped and restarted for the change to take effect.
stopsrc -s sendmail startsrc -s sendmail -a"-bd -q30m"
