Troubleshooting
Problem
Skipping a directory merge during a UCM deliver operation and subsequently trying to merge any file element from the deliver operation dialog results in an error. The problem occurs when you skip or defer a directory merge during a deliver operation.
Symptom
When the UCM Delivery dialog encounters a nontrivial merge, a dialog offers the following options:
* Start the Diff Merge tool for this element
* Skip this element, I'll merge it later
* Back out from the current Delivery
If you select user the second option for a directory element, then the merge fails and displays the following message:

An error occurred while checking out or merging the directories in the target view.
Unable to perform merge.
Unable to do integration.

If you subsequently select any file element from the dialog, and from its
context menu choose "Merge > Merge Elements," the following error is displayed:

You cannot merge the file elements until all the directory merges are resolved.
Resolving The Problem
Start the delivery again, but this time, select "Start the Diff Merge tool for this element." After merging the directory versions, merge the file versions.
