HTTP response fails when using an HTTP Transformation Rule for an HTTP 302 Redirect status code

How To

Summary

When an HTTP server responds with the HTTP "302 Redirect" status code it is a common scenario that the response is without the HTML body.

Setting up an HTTP Transformation Rule in a Reverse Proxy ( WebSEAL ) instance to respond with HTTP "302 Redirect" without the HTML body content causes the HTTP response to fail. Errors can be observed as follows:

Message in the pdweb.snoop trace:
Writing to Socket Failed.

Related message shown in the Reverse Proxy message log:
0x38AD5425 webseald ERROR wiv socket WsSslListener.cpp 1901 0x7fa53e7e0700 -- DPWIV1061E Could not write to socket (406)

As a result the response from the Reverse Proxy never arrives at the client.
