Problem
HSCL3396 when trying to delete a partition. May also receive Hscl0589 for this reason.
Resolving The Problem
A customer could not delete the only partition on a POWER7, and an HSCL3396 error message was received.
Initially, the server was powered off.
You should follow the steps below to delete a partition:
1. Power on the server to Standby.
2. Check the Managed System:
3. Check the service partition field.
3a. You cannot delete a partition that has been selected as the service partition.
3b. Change the Service Partition to Unassigned, and the partition will be deleted successfully.
