HP Data Protector reports Informix ISAM error -150 after issuing an onbar command

Symptom

HP Data Protector reports the following Informix ISAM error after issuing an onbar command:

The database reported error while performing requested operation.

-150 The limits of the IBM Informix Demo Version have been exceeded.

You are using a demonstration version of the database server. This version has severe limits on the number of tables and the size of the tables that it can manage. The current operation causes it to exceed one of those limits. Contact your IBM representative about buying the production version of the software.

The above error description is incorrect if the IBM Informix edition is not a demo version. The 150 error code is most likely the code returned by the onbar command and does not mean the same thing as the -150 ISAM error.

The 150 error code returned by the onbar command is actually defined as: "err initializing from config file". This means that onbar encountered a problem reading the $ONCONFIG or onconfig.std files. Both files are required for proper operation.
