IBM Support

How to use the "split" and "cat" commands to split a large file into smaller pieces and then to restore the pieces into a single file.

Troubleshooting

Problem

You are trying to transfer via ftp a large file (from AIX or Linux) to IBM MQ Support, but due to network failures, after several megabytes of data are successfully transmitted, the overall transmission fails and the received file is incomplete. You want to know if there is a way to split the original file into smaller chunks, transfer reliably those smaller chunks and then the large file can be reassembled at the receiving end.
